The Rimu House, named after the beautiful wood it is made of, is a very comfortable home with a view. A fully equipped kitchen, and open plan style living room opens out onto a large deck putting you amongst the surrounding native virgin forest and offers spectacular views of the Tasman Sea, which is a stones throw away. A perfect spot to watch the local Hector dolphins which are often seen playing in the waves. A wood-burning fireplace provides warmth and ambience.

Our one-thousand acre property is set in surroundings where Aotearoa is as it used to belush, unspoiled and natural. A slice of paradise. Gentle Annie is an ideal place to get off the beaten track to experience New Zealand's untamed wilderness and truly appreciate the South Island\u2019s West Coast. Bounded by the Tasman Sea, the mighty Mokihinui River and beautiful ancient bush, our seaside accommodation is a peaceful place to relax and enjoy time away from the busy life and provides a great base to explore our stunning region.

Centrally located in the Northern West Coast, Gentle Annie is near places of interest where day trips will get you north to the magnificent Oparara Limestone Arches, the Kahurangi National Park, the Heaphy Track and south to the Chasm Creek and Charming Creek Walkways, Punakaiki Pancake Rocks, the Denniston Plateau and the Cape Foulwind Seal Colony. We are on the doorstep of the new Old Ghost Road mountain-biking track in Seddonville!

In any season, enjoy time at Gentle Annie. It will nourish your soul and awaken your senses.

Bush and beach cabin

A lovely place to stay with a group. You could hear the waves at night and the overly friendly wekas meant you had to be careful not to leave doors open. The whole campground was well maintained and the Cow Shed cafe a delight.

Rimu house is an amazing property. Nestled into the bush with outstanding sea and coastal views and a large decking for outdoor entertainment,it’s got it all. The Gentle Annie is a fabulous place and we highly recommend it.

Beautiful location

Great location and good for the soul. We had a great two days here. Good walking options along the beach to views and coffee. Bonfire was the highlight. Need to advertise correct bedding options as it does not sleep 12 which we booked for.

What a fantastic place to stay. The house has rustic charm and everything you need. It felt like a real kiwi holiday in a magical spot. The beach is right there. Great surf casting, lots of snapper and gurnard caught. Beautiful sunsets. The maze is a must to do, the views up there are spectacular.

Coastal relax

We loved the location, house and area. The forests and beach was amazing. We struggled a bit with the beds as they weren't that comfy and we would have loved a hotter fire as it took a bit to warm the place and our other suggestion would be to get some nice low light lamps in the bedrooms but other than that it is a lovely place and we would definitely go back again.

Awesome spot on the coats to get away from the hustle & bustle. Great location 2 mins from the Mokihinui river mouth. House has the the rustic charm of a log cabin. No internet/ poor phone coverage forces you to disconnect from the world which is what we all need to do occasionally!

Amazing!

Fantastic stay at this wonderful place. House is clean and tidy with everything you need. It's a little quirky with a beach/treehouse feel. Warm and comfortable. The views and sunsets are stunning. The location just opposite the beach is perfect, fishing, beach fires and relaxing. Hosts are helpful and communicative. High recommend this ice of Kiwi Heaven

The Pre-apocalyptic getaway of our dreams

Loved this property. So good to explore and enjoy the many sights, smells and sounds of the North West Coast. A fantastic place with views of the sunset, lovely warm fire and cosy area for chilling. The kitchen was great and love the open plan layout of the main room. Thanks for helping us avoid reality for a few days in the best possible way. Also Cowshed cafe muffins are the best way to start the day. Thanks so much for sharing your home with us!

Relaxing and beautiful

This is a lovely spot, so beautiful. Was perfect to recharge the batteries in mid winter. Lots to do all around the area too. It's very central for North Westland exploration.
