Nightmare scenario upon check in — I was asked to pay an additional 1/3 of the entire hotel price when checking in, as the hotel claimed that Expedia did not pay a “convenience fee“ and a “resort fee.“. I refused to pay the requested amount as I produced two confirmations from Expedia that I had “paid in full.”
The hotel refused to let me check in, so I was forced to spend the next 2 1/2 hours in a freezing hotel lobby on the phone to several Expedia customer service agents, acting as the middleman in this payment dispute between Oceanside and Expedia.
During this time, the hotel clerk refused to allow me to check in, despite the fact that I had just landed from London and it was between 1 AM and 3:30 AM my time this fiasco played out. In the end, I had to pay the additional amounts, but persuaded Expedia to reimburse me, Oceanside never lifted a finger throughout the entire fiasco and continue to refuse to let me check in despite the fact that I had paid the amount to Expedia in full. Expedia is certainly to blame here as well.
As for the property, the hotel is one of the lesser options in Miami Beach and despite the cheaper price is still not good value. I also saw at least five insects in my room.
