The Jive!

Relax with the whole family at this peaceful place to stay. It contains a loft area with a queen bed and a half a bath. French doors and hardwood floors. The sun room has fantastic views of the river, fire pit and a large private yard with hot tub. Lots of extra seating, ping pong for entertaining and a backyard grill.

Equipped kitchen and a washer and dryer. Your home away from home to insure your experience is amazing. Note: We are in the valley and wifi can be spotty.

So peaceful

A wonderful place…so peaceful and just perfect for a quiet weekend to relax. Cute winery just down the road. River view was beautiful. Everything in top shape- loved the hot tub.

Moms getaway

The house was perfect! The river was so pretty! We enjoyed everything. Perfect getaway for two moms needing a break. Definitely would go again and bring the kids.

Great Escape Cabin

Fantastic riverfront cabin with a lot of space indoors and out. Very clean, but it is a rustic cabin setting. Perhaps the most unique and fun feature is hundreds of river rocks painted by the guests in all sorts of ways, displayed inside and outside, was fun to add to the collection with the paints and brushes supplied. Also note that there is a larger sister cabin nearby but about 50 yds. away.

Our stay at Luray!

We had a great time. There were tubes to enjoy the beautiful river and everything was as expected. We will definitely come back! Thank you so much for having us at your lovely property.

Nice riverfront trip.

Nice cabin, directly riverfront. Check-in was super easy. Wifi works good outside or up stairs. Cabin is rustic but comfortable. Host is very responsive and helpful. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Wonderful Retreat

Nice cabin filled with vacation history. Very nice section of the river to swim and enjoy. Lots of wildlife to see. Cozy home with a beautiful stone fireplace and a all seasons room to enjoy your meal and see the outdoors. We wished there was more outdoor seating in the shade, maybe some Adirondack chairs to be a little closer to the water. Not to take away that is was a wonderful place to stay!

Wonderful Retreat

My kids and I loved our time at the Jive. The hot tub, foosball table, ping pong table, fire pit, and beautiful yard by the river provided a wonderful holiday weekend getaway for us. The house has everything you and we can’t wait to return!

Just right at the jive

We had three adults and a dog stay at the Jive. It was a quiet cozy cabin with a beautiful view of the river. There were plenty of activities to keep us busy inside and out. We can’t wait to return to The Jive to see the rock garden continue to grow.

Luray Cabin

Great spot with river in backyard. We loved the hot tub and having a fire pit. The loft space gave our kids enough room to each have their own bed. Unfortunately the large sunroom we were looking forward to using was not sealed and wasps got in, even though we didn’t open the doors or windows. The single bed upstairs needs a new mattress, and the upstairs powder room is hard to use because of the sloped ceiling.Host was very responsive when we asked for more towels and brought them right away (there were only 4 and we had 5 people).

Nice Amenities

Nice well equipped cabin with plenty of room. The game room was a plus, we played a lot of ping pong. The WiFi was good. Nice direct view of the river. I would suggest maybe update the mattresses and pillows for the first two beds on the loft floor. The master bed is good, but we decided to sleep upstairs with our daughter during the night. Also, maybe update the door sealing for the back doors to keep wasps out. We’ve stayed at the River’s edge cabin before, but found the Jive better in terms of space/layout and amenities. The half bathroom is also a plus. I would stay again. Thank you for a great stay!

pup's vacation

We found the cabin, the yard and the river access to be amazing. We all had a wonderful time from the cozy furnishings to the sun room, the deck, and the hot tub. Although we didn't take advantage of all activities offered (ie. rock painting, ping pong, canoe, corn hole, etc.) we still had a great time playing with the girls (four legged kind) in the spacious yard and river. We also found it convenient to the park and Luray.

Beautiful Property!

Just get away from it all. Really majestic down on the river. Property is really well kept. House had everything we needed and was very comfortable. Huge yard down to the river. Every animal imaginable. Deer, fox, blue heron and an Eagle. Great stay. Thank you.

Thanksgiving 2023

What a wonderful way to do Thanksgiving! Our 15 year old dog was living his best life at The Jive. We didn’t even think about turning on the tv in 4 nights. The two of us had big foosball and ping pong tournaments every night. We slept well, ate well, relaxed and enjoyed our time together. Highly recommend!

Relaxing on the water

We loved the Jive. It was fully decked out in anything you wanted, canoes and inner tubes for the water, a great bank for fishing, tons of indoor entertainment. Plus, there is a surprise activity that shows just how much care the owners take in making things special for renters. WiFi and connections are tough but who needs it when you have such great stuff around. We left you a couple of games of hook the ring to add to the space. Enjoy.

Excellent cabin with many extras, but bring your own Kleenex!

What a beautiful cabin! The pictures are accurate, and there are many extras with this cabin. The sun porch contains a Foosball table, a ping pong table, tables and chairs, and a cupboard with paints and brushes so guests can contribute to the growing collection of painted rocks. (You have to see it to believe it!) Outside, in addition to the deck, there is a hot tub, a fire ring, and a canoe! And the large backyard ends at the beautiful Shenandoah river. This is truly a waterfront cabin! Our only disappointment was we found no kleenex in the cabin, only one roll of paper towels, only two rolls of toilet paper, and no matches. Our first night we couldn't light the charcoal grill or a campfire, because we didn’t bring matches. Whoops! Our only other disappointment was spotty WiFi. The Roku TV is useless at times when the WiFi signal is weak. It was just me and my wife and out little dog on this long weekend getaway. This would be a great cabin for a family with kids, as the spiral stearcase leads to a loft with three extra beds and a powder room.

Special anniversary getaway

We were celebrating two anniversaries - 16yr wedding anniversary and 6yr post-cancer treatment for my husband and we even painted a rock to commemorate the occasions. What a nice idea/activity to offer! Due to appointments that morning we couldn't get to the property until later in the day so the driveway was a little challenging navigating it for the first time in the dark. But we quickly got over that and were pros in no time! The property and location are totally worth it! We enjoyed the fire pit, the painting activity, the proximity to the park and while we didn't do a lot of cooking, we found the property to be pretty well equipped for our needs. It did feel a little warmer when trying to sleep but the fans helped and for some reason we slept better after moving upstairs. It was unseasonably warm for fall but beautiful weather nonetheless. The only downside was the shower/tub was very slippery. We are both not-quite-50, able-bodied people but I almost slipped getting out and unfortunately my husband slipped and hit his ribs on the morning we were leaving, which made for a sour note after an amazing getaway. I'm still giving 5 stars because everything else was truly wonderful!

We loved the house! Lots of things to do inside. The kitchen was fully stocked and just the right size. We loved just relaxing on the porch. There was a lot of room for the dog to run outside. The hot tub was so relaxing, and the river is so close. We loved that it’s not near anything. It’s a really wonderful location!

The property was in a very nice location. We enjoyed floating on the river, canoeing, fishing and the hot tub. We had everything we needed for our stay. The only issue we encountered were wasps, but the owner came and sprayed under the deck.
