Lake Harding

In general the property is fine. It was clean, the bed was comfortable and the shower was hot. It also has a great location. I had to book in a rush and I almost cancelled the reservation mid flight. The reviews I read were awful. The property did not reflect that in my opinion. Parking is expensive. There is ongoing construction, and a dumpster was right outside my first floor window. Fortunately, I was in LA for work so I did not have to bear the noise during the day. When I returned each evening construction had stopped for the day. Noise, overnight, in the building was nominal. The hotel is very no frills. There is no food nor a bar onsite, although a water machine is in the lobby. I would not stay with my family, as the rooms are very small. Overall the property is great for a single business traveller.

Our stay at Marriott’s Grande Vista was extremely disappointing and far below the standard we expected from a Marriott resort. We booked a studio, and from the very beginning we experienced multiple issues. The sleeper sofa was extremely uncomfortable and very hard, making it difficult for our young son to sleep throughout our stay. Housekeeping was unacceptable. We found dirt and debris on the floor, which made us question the cleanliness of the room. One night we were awakened around2 a.m. by excessive noise from the room next door. To make matters worse, at approximately 7 a.m., a staff member entered our room without prior notice to install a soundproofing barrier, disrupting our sleep once again. After another complaint, we requested a different room. Although the hotel agreed to move us, we had to pack and move all of our belongings ourselves, without any assistance from the staff. Whenever it rained, the outdoor walkways and the area around the elevators became flooded, forcing guests to walk around large puddles to avoid getting their shoes soaked. The elevators were also unreliable. In our second room, located on the fifth floor, numerous bats flew out from the roof every evening, making it impossible to enjoy the balcony. We also discovered that the room did not have a hair dryer, a basic amenity that should have been provided. To make matters worse, the hotel charged us for parking every night.
