We really enjoyed the location of the condo and our unit had a beautiful ocean view. No air conditioning, which would have been preferred, but each room had a fan and screen so you could keep windows and sliding doors open. For our March stay this was ok. Overall these were perfect accommodations for the five of us. The two things I would mention to consider if the property is a good fit for your needs:- The hot tub was not hot. It was the same temperature as the pool. That was disappointing because we were looking forward to that for the evenings. This was really the only complaint and the reason why I dropped it to four stars. - The beach was was nice and sandy; however, it's pretty small and you can really only utilize the beach and swim during low tide so not extremely ideal for young kids. Snorkeling is possible but mediocre compared to some of the nearby beaches

Great location

This was our first time staying in Kahana. It was much quieter than Kaanapali or Kihei where we usually stay. It was a great location. The property is older, but nice. There was no AC in our unit, which was fine for us, but might be an issue for others.

A Real Gem

Kahana Sunset and Sullivan Properties under-promised and over delivered. We LOVED the private beach, complete with it's own family of sea turtles regularly hanging out in the coral just past the sand. The view from the condo across the well manicured lawns and pool and out to the ocean was spectacular from both the main room and the master bedroom. We loved being able to see both Lanai and Molokai from our porch. The condo itself was clean and updated. The kitchen was well stocked, and the wifi and TV worked great. The beds were comfortable, including the pull out couch in the living room. And there were even amenities we weren't expecting - like boogie boards, beach towels, table games, and an ice cooler. We also loved the location. Honolua Bay, amazing snorkeling, and the wildness of the northern Maui tip were right around the corner. And we were just a step away from Kaanapali and all you can do in that resort area. We also did several trips for dinner to Lahaina, which was only about 20 minutes away. The check in and check out process was super easy, well communicated, and went without a hitch. We never had to really interact with management, but it felt like we could have easily done so had we needed to. Overall, we LOVED our stay at Kahana Sunset! We'd do it again and would highly recommend it to anyone considering Maui and wanting a low key, quiet private beach atmosphere.

Peaceful and Great location

Came for my daughters graduation trip. I wanted a place my preteens can go swim without a long walk. And I can sit and watch without leaving my room. And have to cross busy streets etc. Perfect! There are tons of sea turtles in the cove and even saw a seal. We would stay again.

Christmas in Maui? Great idea! Nice location but as usual the cost was low so the structure itself is old. You can hear your neighbors walking around, talking and playing. So as for relaxing and quite…not the place…kids and pool, perfect.

Great for Families!

Came here with 2 families with small infants, it is very convenient to get to the private beach, and then a 20 yard walk to the pool/spa was also a plus. The rooms were very sound-proof for the little one's sleeping, would definitely return!

Family Favorite

We come to Kahana Sunset whenever possible! Family friendly, great location, turtles, market close by, and relaxing. This unit worked well for our family of 5. Great kitchen, comfortable sleeping, and plenty of space! Got a bit warm at night and we were thankful for all the fans. Thank you for a great stay!

Great location, but not maintained

The grounds & location are very nice. The beach is just steps from your door and is beautiful. The pool is heated and nice. The downside is that this unit is very poorly maintained. A cleaning fee is charged, but the unit was not clean. The sleeper sofa had no linens and was unusable due to deterioration. The unit is advertised as remodeled, but it does not appear to be a recent remodel. The linens looked old and mismatched. The appliances, dishes, and the handles on all the cabinets and appliances were dirty, sticky and grimy. The lanais have gorgeous views, but the smell from all the bird droppings caked on the railings, floors and furniture overwhelms the scent of the plumeria trees. The huge spiderweb on the lanai also indicates a lack of maintenance. As noted, this unit has no AC (not unusual in Hawaii). However, the arrangement of the upstairs bedrooms and tiny window in the smaller bedroom doesn't allow for great airflow thru the unit, thus keeping the upstairs very hot. The fans (not pictured in the listing) were so covered in dust that they were not usable for us due to allergies. Also note that the No Smoking policy is not enforced on the grounds, so the bedroom facing the parking lot had cigarette and weed smoke wafting into the unit. Not great if you have children sleeping in that room or just don't want to inhale other's smoke. The management company did offer to have the unit cleaned for us, but since we had a packed itinerary, we did not have time to repack and wait for the cleaners to service the unit. Based on the condition, it would have been several hours to clean it properly. As a final note, we were locked out of our unit more than 30 minutes prior to our checkout time with some of our luggage still inside. We travel frequently and stay in a variety of places from Courtyards to Ritz Carltons and other basic vacation/time share rentals. This is the worst unit I have ever stayed in on Maui, or frankly anywhere. I do not recommend this unit.

Amazing ocean view property!

We absolutely loved this condo for our family vacation! There were some parts of the condo that could use some updating but we weren’t in the condo enough during the day and the closeness to the ocean and pool outweighed anything! We would definitely return again!

Kahana Sunset is paradise found!

This is our 2nd time staying at Kahana Sunset and we love it even more. The grounds are gorgeous, the beach is amazing, and the unit is comfortable and has everything we need. We hope to come back very soon!
