I loved this property. The staff was very nice and helpful throughout my entire stay. They have many food options at the resort and they have different activities for free, painting on Mondays and Fridays were my favorite.
The property is good , staff are welcoming.
Good for holiday with family , food is good , thanks to Edson at Jua restaurant, his service is excellent and he made sure my family is comfortable.
My stay at Kwanza was amazing, stayed here for my honeymoon and my wife really loved the resort. We stayed in one of the swim up rooms which was a nice added feature. The only thing I could fault this hotel is the drainage system in the shower and sink is a bit slow to go down the drain other than that everything is 5 star. I would definitely stay here again and the staff were all amazing and accommodating.
The hotel and the staff were great.
However, the prices on site are very exaggerated.
The location of the resort is exploited a little.
Would still vacation there again anytime.
Our stay here was amazing! Beautiful resort and staff. Everyone is so nice and friendly. The buffet style food was fresh and good. The rooms were clean and kept cool. We enjoyed the outdoor shower. Great views for pictures and videos if you’re a content creator or just enjoy doing so. I would definitely recommend this resort.
The resort is stunning, and our swim up, ocean view rooms (we were upgraded) were fantastic. The hotel is brand new, and was quiet whilst we were there, the food was variable, but largely good, and all the staff were lovely, and could not do enough for you. The resort itself is quite remote, but still perfect for a relaxing break with a choice of several restaurants and bars on site, as well as a spa, gym and yoga area.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
The stay was definitely what I would describe as a paradise resort, great food and entertainment and the staff are very friendly. With the only slight feedback being they had a lot of power cuts through the stay and water cuts occasionally but it was fixed once reported. A slight bit of maintenance needs to be done with regards to rust but is very difficult with the type of climate in Zanzibar but overall I would recommend this as a 5 star location in Zanzibar, thank you.
A very beautiful property. Super nice staff. Very over priced and underwhelming with Meal options. Buffet style without meal plan is $45 per person per meal per a day! I do a lot of traveling and thats the most ridiculously price I have ever had. When checking out, additional $70 was added to the final bill. Once again, highest taxes I have experienced within my time of traveling. Will definitely visit Zanzibar again, but will prefer another hotel!!
It’s an amazing place,I will recommend kwanza to anyone who wants to have a quiet and peaceful get away, it’s unique, the staffs are very welcoming, the food is nice,
What I didn’t like was the payment process during reservation, I had clicked payment upon arrival, but I was debited immediately I keyed in my account details.
That didn’t seat well with me.
But apart from that, kwanza is very nice place.
We learnt Kwanza is “the first” in Swahili language, and in reality it was. Our experience was amazing. From the comfort of our chalet to the pristine landscape and exterior and the dining variety, it could not have been any better.
The daily show by the poolside was an extra add-on that kept our daughters waiting for it every evening.. from live music, to local dance it was very original and engaging.
Many thanks to all the staff for being so attentive, friendly and welcoming.. Mr. Riyab, Mr. Rajabu, Ms. Mariam and all the other members were so kind and helpful.
This was a fabulous place and wish I spent more time there. Two days was just not enough. I loved their activities and will definitely stay there again and again.
A perfect getaway resort, relaxing and perfect for honeymooners and couples.
The hotel is new so it is well maintained.
They have a doctor which helped us with my kid.
All staff are smiling, welcoming and helpful sometimes the service is slow but they are doing their best
I loved this resort , all the staff were so friendly and welcoming .
I was worried about the food but the food there was amazing every day a new dishes to try and I loved the way the really embrace they own cuisine . Foods were so good ,
I loved the cocktails as I have bee in so many resort and the cocktails weren’t good but in Kwanza all drinks were amazing just takes long .
To Ibrahim , Lucas , Mwansuda and Mercy thank you so much for making our staying better
Zanzibar is a beautiful island, however Kwanza doesn’t live up to its 5 star rating.
Food - terrible, food was stale, rehashed from the day before and the same food nearly every day.
Service - not great, we had a few issues, like a flood into our room - which were very poorly handled - overall they just didn’t seem to care about much.
If we were paying $250 per night, there would be no complaints but they are asking the same rates as Dubai with nowhere near the same level of service or hospitality.
The hotel was generally good but the pool area lacked something and I’m not sure. Could do with cleaning more as today it had a lot of flies/wasps and bits gathering at the steps, water didn’t look a great colour.
Bathroom in my room smelt of sewerage, did not improve after calling reception.
My daughter had raw/undercooked chicken in her chicken wrap and she ate some of it without realising. Spoke with the management but it didn’t seem to matter.
Not the best experience and some staff were slow to bring drinks, today I waited 20mins and there was no one else at the pool

I recently came to stay at the kwanza resort by sunrise in Zanzibar. While a beautiful location and most welcoming stay, I experience some bad service, that of which I didn’t expect for the money I paid for the hotel. My main issue was the waiting time for everything from the coffee in the mornings to the room service in the evenings, at one point even had to wait over 2 hours for a cup of coffee, which is ludicrous. Also, I had a discount code because I booked with Expedia, which was not honoured and the individual I spoke to, was extremely rude about, he made an arrange to meet at the reception to discuss my bill and what he can do and then didn’t come and then was extremely rude to me on the phone. There was a cockroach in one of the rooms and the air conditioning was not working in another. It was getting ridiculous.
I left with a sour taste, also my sister, who came on the trip is a journalist, she has written for ELLE, Vogue, Marie Claire, Harpers Bazaar was planning on featuring the resort, is now quite disappointed. The best time were the staff who were incredibly accommodating and worked super hard to make our stay the best it could be
Overall excellent! They just opened so it was very quiet which was what we were looking for. The facilities were beautiful and everything was very clean and minimalistic. The thing that stood out most to me was the service. Sometimes in five star hotels it feels like even after paying a significant amount they always want to make you pay more for the small extras. In this case it was the opposite, the staff always went out of their way to check in and if something could reasonably be on the house they offered it.
In the main restaurant: Mariam went above and beyond and made us want to come back again. Rajab catered to our every need! Felister listened to our questions about wanting to find authentic zanzibari food and Chef Sabrina made us the most scrumptious meal (off menu) that will stay with us as the best meal we had in Zanzibar!
In the pool/recreation department: Khamis created a really fun game with shells that had me laughing and was one of the highlights of the trip! Jabiry always checked in to greet us good morning and refresh towels. Kwao at the pool bar went out of his way to cater to our every need.
Reception: Mercia proactively checked in with us throughout our stay and any requests (ex. issues with hot water) were dealt with in under an hour.
Excursions: Shabani and his staff took us on a wonderful beach trip with amazing food.
The only downside to the facilities was that they have a cliff beach which makes swimming a bit challenging
