Keen walkers can join the footpath from the doorstep to the village of Hope Cove (2 miles), where two secluded sandy beaches await sunbathing, a quiet paddle, or exploring rock pools.

One must-see beach is the golden sands at South Milton (3.5 miles), while Woodlands Family Theme Park is a lovely family day away from the coast (13.5 miles). There are some spectacular coastal views along the South West Coast Path. Head to Bolberry Down (1 mile), which has paths to suit all abilities.
