Stay was really nice, and I enjoyed the style of the place. Rooms are very spacious. A suggestion is to give better indication and directions of exactly where to locate reception. It was not very clear. I arrived late at night and it was dark already and could not locate reception for check in.

The Royal Elephant

Theres room for improvement especially customer service and cleanliness. Honestly the breakfast wasn't that good to you need to improve on that as well. The AC in my room had issue, either it didn't want to go off or on it had a mind of its own. Tidiness and neatness at the restaurant is very key. But generally it is ok and nearness to the road was good.

At first glance the rooms are beautiful and spacious. We had serveral disappointing moments. 3 days we had water trouble, no hot water for 2 and no water pressure the 3rd. They did however come and fix it. The towels had black marks on them, The plunger for the coffee was in a bad condition and the rusks which was a nice touch they only gave us1 rusk for 2 people in the room. So much potential however quite disappointing.

Royal Elephant stay- over

Lovely stay. Just very poorly signposted throughout. Road sign at entrance faded to almost invisible. No signpost to function or rooms. Or dining rooms. But we enjoyed our stay. Extremely good value for money. Staff very helpful and competent.

Great Hotel to visit

The hotel is well built and the rooms something to long for. The heat in the cold was perfect. The staff were excellent. Accolades to one specific staff member (Ingrid) who went above to make us feel home and show us around the hotel. Breakfast included in the package was excellent.

Comfortable room, great staff however R50 tray surcharge is ridiculous. Needed to get an adapter plug from them was told there was a R150 deposit required. When I paid they did not have change for a R200 note. Breakfast disappointing as there was only fruit and yoghurt this morning and I was due for examination at 07:10. No bacon and eggs etc. not the best place to stay also too far from any shopping centres.

Good option near Eldo Glen

The hotel is well managed and clean, the rooms are comfortable, breakfast was good. A nice hotel for a short stay . I needed to be in the area so was perfect for me.

There are better options!

Upon check-in, I confirmed that the room allocated was as per my booking and that breakfast was included as per the booking confirmation. This proved to be a problem as I was informed that breakfast was not included. I showed the staff member my email confirmation - some debate ensued with a colleague and then it was decided to phone someone - I presume a supervisor. After much debate, it was suggested to phone a more senior person and after extensive further questioning, it was finally confirmed that they would honour the terms of my pre-paid reservation. Not a great start! All drinks in the bar as well as meals in the restaurant must be paid for - "pay-as-order". I was told due to the high incidents of fraud experienced by the hotel. The room was a comfortable size but the lighting is poor. Not enough where its required and overwhelming where not. There is no USB plug and no adaptor in the room for mobile phone or tablet charging. I had to pay R150.00 for an adaptor which was refunded when I handed it back at checkout. I stayed three nights and used the restaurant for breakfast and dinner. Breakfast was above average; the portions of the dinner main course too big for one person! The quality of dinners varied. All staff interactions were great - they were all really friendly and pleasant to deal with. This was my first stay at the Royal Elephant - I travel frequently and have experienced better!
