We really enjoyed our stay here. Indoor and outdoor areas were clean when we arrived. Communication with host was good. Lake views and access are ideal. Loved sitting on the back deck, the fire pit, and all the fun activities downstairs. Would definitely recommend!

Beautiful view with fun amenities

Property was very clean and comfortable. View was amazing!!! The canoe, kayaks and SUP were so much fun!!! Paddling out a bit from the property we could see the dam and georgous mountains. They even had some life jackets we could use. Firepit was a fantastic amenity. One caution: If you order the linen package, ensure it has the correct configuration of sheets for your guests. The house has a max of 6 occupants, but has beds for 11. While there were enough sheets for 6, we didn't get the right mix (there were not enough sheets for all of the queen beds and there were twin sheets provided when we didn't plan to use the twin beds). Luckily the owner had a set of queen sheets in the closet so it worked out. We would definitely go back.

Perfect Long Weekend

This is the perfect house for a group. We rented this location for a long weekend with another group that rented very close to us. They came to our dock most days as this dock was PERFECT. The neighbors were great and very welcoming we had the best time. Everything you could need is supplied and the house is gorgeous.

Wonderful SML Property

We stayed at Fun in the Sun for 5 days/ 4 nights. The house is great and had everything we needed. The kitchen was well equipped, beds were very comfortable, everything was very clean, and the games in the basement were a total bonus. We played so many games of pool! The outdoor spaces are the best! We enjoyed breakfast on the deck looking out on the lake each morning. The fire pit and the dock were great as well. We rented a boat from Mitchell’s (also recommend!) and easily tied up at the house dock. Everyone was very friendly and helpful - property mgmt company and Chris (owner’s sister). Overall a wonderful trip and we’ll be back!

Amazing Christmas stay at SML!

Owners went above and beyond to make us feel welcome by decorating inside and outside and leaving a gift under the tree. We loved making cozy fires in the fireplace and the gorgeous sunset views from the house. A lovely neighborhood for walking. Excellent proximity to local market - White House Corner Market and Smith Mountain Lake State Park. Would highly recommend staying here.

Great home and location

We very much enjoyed our stay over the NYE weekend at this home. The lakefront property was exactly as advertised. We especially enjoyed the games in the basement! Thanks for having us at your lovely home on SML.

Wonderful house and dock!

We loved this house and their spacious dock which has shade and sun on it to please everyone! We had an amazing trip and this house had everything we needed. The fire pit was easy and fun at night. Highly recommend.

A beautiful, spacious home on a lovely part of the lake

We enjoyed our stay at Fun in the Sun. We had unseasonably warm weather and were able to enjoy kayaking right from the dock. Views from the home are terrific. And the property manager handled the handoff well.

Great weekend !

Perfect lake retreat

Brand new dock, fresh clean house, super comfortable beds and full of great amenities. Kitchen has everything you need! We loved it and our pups had fun too

A Little Slice of Heaven

This was our first visit to Smith Mountain Lake. My husband, two kids (14 and 10 year old), my 70 year old Mother and our two standard poodles had a fantastic time. We brought our boat and enjoyed being able to keep it in front of the house. The locked neighborhood boat ramp is just the next cove over and you can keep your trailer there during your stay . The water at Smith Mt Lake is deep, clear and the most beautiful color. Everyone in our group enjoyed swimming off the dock. We loved sitting at the dining table and enjoying the view while we ate and played games. The kids loved the basketball shooting machine downstairs and watching the Fourth of July fireworks from the boat. We took walks through the peaceful neighborhood every day. The house had ample kitchen provisions with the exception of serving spoons. A few drawbacks were that the laundry area was not swept when we arrived, the downstairs bed still had someone else’s sheet on it, there were a few ants in the kitchen, the lock in the upstairs bathroom got stuck, the steps down to the lake are in need of repair and there was a mixup with Lake Retreat Properties who told us we could check in early but the cleaning crew was still there. Despite those minor hiccups we thoroughly enjoyed the house and fell in love with Smith Mt Lake. I would highly recommend this wonderful dog friendly retreat.

Great place for a family vacation

Everything exactly as expected. Nice location. Great house with everything you need. Internet speed is slow but there’s a great big lake in the backyard to keep you entertained.
