Just moments from Scaldbeck Barn, Morston Marshes in the Blakeney National Nature Reserve offer some of North Norfolk’s best birdwatching. Step onto the Norfolk Coast Path to see Dark‑bellied Brent Geese, Curlew, Little Egrets and Marsh Harriers over the tidal creeks and saltmarsh. With spectacular winter flocks and calling summer waders, the birdlife on your doorstep is superb year‑round.


This flint-faced cottage is the epitome of country elegance. The farmhouse-style kitchen/diner is a bright space boasting an Aga, a huge dining table and doors to the garden. After supper, relax in the lounge, where there’s a wood burner and a Smart TV, plus a table that’s perfect for a game of cards. Also on this level is a delightful single bedroom with an en-suite shower room and access to the garden. From the stairs in the lounge, you can reach two bedrooms – a super-king-size and a twin, plus a family bathroom. Meanwhile, from the kitchen/diner, a second set of stairs takes you to the remaining two bedrooms, both twin rooms, and a shower room. One of these bedrooms has a connecting door to the twin room. All the first-floor bedrooms have areas of low, sloping ceilings and enjoy spectacular views over the salt marshes. Step outside to the south-facing courtyard, stroll over to the lawn for a game of croquet or soccer, or take your dogs for a game of fetch in the fenced area.


The cottage is on the coastal path just 200 metres from the National Trust’s Morston Quay, where you can catch a ferry to Blakeney Point, home to England’s largest colony of grey seals. Discover scenic walks both along the coast and inland – Holt Country Park is just 7.5 miles – or visit the royal estate at Sandringham, 25.5 miles away.
