We enjoyed our stay here! Check in was very easy and we appreciated the recommendations from the hosts. The outdoor bathroom was a unique change. We would stay here again!
Hannah and Tanner were super quick to respond with information that was needed, and super helpful. The location was so fun being in the jungle, and it was minutes away from downtown Hilo. We loved our stay here!
Great stay in Hilo. Hosts were so attentive and helpful and very flexible with my last minute trip extended stay. The room was clean, quiet, private, close to town and the University. Loved the outdoor shower for the full island experience will stay here again.
Lovely place to stay. Highly recommend it. Very private, loved the bathroom, comfortable bed. Location super convenient, just 5 minutes drive to downtown but you feel like you are staying in a tropical forest. Hannah is a great host, easy to connect with. Bring some good ear plugs because everywhere you stay in Hawai’i that has forest and woodland nearby will have little tree frogs. You never see them but you hear them. Also, just ask Hannah if you need cutlery, dishes etc. All available if you let her know. Would definitely stay here again if we ever return to Hilo.
We stayed at three different places during our trip on the big island and this is absolutely our favorite! I love waking up to the smell of the plants and flowers right outside the room. Despite the bathroom is half outdoor but you still have enough privacy. Hannah is easy to reach whenever we have questions. Highly recommend✨
We loved our stay in the jungle room! The suite was clean and comfortable and we had no trouble falling asleep to the sound of coqui frogs each night. The hosts were so kind and generously let us use the bbq and the small prep kitchen space next door which we appreciated for making light meals. Overall we had an amazing 6 nights in Hilo snorkelling, visiting botanical gardens and enjoying the restaurants and shops downtown. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend this suite!
The three nights and two days we stayed in the jungle were marvelous. The outdoor facilities were exquisite and beyond our expectations. The coqui symphony lulled us to sleep in the most comfortable of beds. The fan provided an aggressive yet tolerable breeze. We did not meet Hannah, but she made our checkin seamless. Thank you for a great stay.
Couldn’t ask for a more peaceful, secluded, beautiful location. A ridiculously comfortable bed. The Bali-style open-air bathroom is unique and luxurious. And a gentle greeting from the house dog was a nice bonus.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here! Hannah and Tanner were amazing hosts who went above and beyond to supply us with ideas of where to go and what to see! The bed, pillows and linens were amazingly comfortable and the tropical/jungle view from our room was stunning! My favorite thing was listening to the Coqui frogs who sang us to sleep each night. It made me feel right at home having lived in Puerto Rico for 18 months. We would definitely stay here again!
This was a return visit. First, location: quiet and private but just a few minutes to downtown. Second, vibes: just one room but a beautifully secluded rain forest lanai with an open air bath. Finally, personality: not your average room to let, with a friendly, welcoming and conscientious host. 10/10.
Hannah was GREAT! She gave us great information about check in, where to park, everything we needed. The place was super clean. We stayed at 5 different location while we were in Hawaii, and this was our favorite by far. Place was exactly what was described. If you don’t mind the sounds of nature, and a Great outside bathroom, which we loved, this is the place to stay in the Hilo area. If you want to visit the volcano, Hilo area, and only have two people this is the place to stay. Thanks again Hannah for allowing Karen and I stay at your awesome Jungle Retreat.
We loved staying at the Jungle view bedroom VRBO and “jungle” is no exaggeration. You feel as if you’re completely surrounded by gorgeous tropical Hawaiian greenery. The outside sitting area was a great place to enjoy morning coffee and listen to all the birdsongs surrounded by palms and countless other trees and flowering plants. It’s also located very close to town which was convenient. Hannah and Tanner are gracious and welcoming hosts and we enjoyed meeting them. 5 stars all the way!
If we could give more than 5 stars, we would! Hannah and Tanner are lovely, incredibly thoughtful hosts with great communication. They made us feel so welcome and appreciated, and let us know when the volcano was erupting so we made it in time to see it.We loved the outdoor bathroom and being so close to nature. Cute tiny frogs come out at night (remember ear plugs if you're a light sleeper).Great location a few minutes drive from downtown Hilo, yet tucked away in the jungle, peaceful and private. We had the best time and would definitely stay here again!
Very clean and absolutely as billed. I am an air conditioner adapted individual but the fan and windows made this stay perfectly ok without one. The windows open at night let us be seranded by frogs as we slept which was quite pleasant. It was a great location that served as a perfectly secluded hub for our daytime hikes , adventure on the town of Hilo and our cross island adventure to swim with manta rays in Kona. Definitely recommende :-)Helo
The location was excellent - at the end of a very quiet road with a forest behind the house. Privacy was ideal. Bathroom - outdoors - was luxurious. I have nice bathrooms in my house, and this one was even nicer than mine. Room was just what we expected and wanted. Laundry available. Lots of things available. This will be the Vrbo that all other Vrbo are compared against. Couldn't have been happier. Hannah was fantastic too.
It was just what I needed. Some were quiet and secluded. Loved the coqui frogs.
I love that it was not to far from Hilo but it seemed like it was on another island. It took me one night to get used to the bathroom because I wasn't sure if anyone was around. The shower was perfect and I love my showers. I loved the stillness of the place. I got to chat with one of the owner and he was so welcoming. I got to have my morning coffee at a drive through which I much enjoyed... no cleaning up. (As suggested by the owner). I would love to stay again but maybe a bit longer. Thank you for sharing a part of yourself with me. I appreciate the kindness so much.
Great home base for exploring Hilo side of the island
My husband and I stayed here for a week and had a wonderful stay. Hannah is very attentive and available whenever you need something. We had the room with the outdoor seating space which is key. There's no air conditioning in that room (the ceiling fan is fine) and it's a bit smaller than the 2 other rooms, but we prefer to have an outdoor space to hang for morning coffee and evening Coqui frog listening. There is no actual kitchen here, coffee maker and small fridge in the room, but there is a large sink and a few dishes in the laundry room which is next door to this room. Note that the other people staying in the other rooms can also use the laundry room so it isn't completely private at all times. And the owner is in the space above that room and you can hear them at times as the listing states, but we didn't have any issues with that. The outdoor bathroom is very cool and still private although you will hear people as they walk by. If you are looking for a completely private place, this may not be for you, but the location is ideal and we found it to be very comfortable and enjoyable.
