Great place to stay! Nice and private yet close to any needed amenities in Harpers or Lansing. The hot tub was great to have during our stay, and the layout with bedrooms and bathrooms upstairs and downstairs made it great for our teens to have their own space when they wanted.
The cabin was in a very nice rural location with trees surrounding the property. We loved the way the cabin was decorated and furnished, everything was very comfortable. On the second night of our stay we got an amazing view of the Northern Lights while we relaxed in the hot tub. There are many things to do within an hour of the property so whether you choose relaxing days at the property or exploring the nearby area it's a great location.
We will definitely be back. The privacy is top notch... which I love. Everything was nice and comfortable. The veiw was amazing. I love the stairs being carpeted, too. Beds are comfy, etc.The one and only thing I'd change would be the toilets as they're so short. Or put grab bars in, as you feel like you're sitting on the floor. (Tall woman problems) We are already planning our next trip here, we loved it that much.
The cabin is spacious and accurate as listed. It has a large table and enough chairs which is often lacking in cabins that sleep a larger group. Kitchen was workable and kept the group together with one great room. The beds got rave reviews from the group. The fire pit was perfect for gathering outside. The wooded area was fun for walking and exploring. Hot tub was a bonus. Lots to do in the surrounding area. I would caution you that if stairs are a concern for someone in your group- this might not be the cabin for you.
Family time is so precious, and this cabin provided a fun and memorable place for us!
Everything about it was 5 star. Literally nothing to critique! Highly recommend. Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful home and its gorgeous natural surroundings, with all of us! Every bit of it was enjoyed by all 9 of us, for our two night stay. And for granting early check in, also grateful! Made more pool time for our grand loves! Even your mattresses in all bedrooms were super comfy! From Iowa and Germany, we, all 9 of us, thank you!! “Time spent with your children, is time wisely spent” Mark Twain …Here’s to you, for making a fun and memorable venue, with such limited time together, for our time, together!!
This house is set up very well to handle a large crowd. There were 10 adults and two kids, ages 13 and 16. We all thoroughly enjoyed the pool and the kids loved the hot tub! It was great to have the laundry facilities to dry our pool towels and swim suits. Unfortunately there were mice in the house, we had to wash all the silverware and utensils when we got there due to mice droppings in the drawers. We live in the country also and do understand this house is in the country. However we are pretty sure the mice did not come in through the doors when we unpacked and bringing our things in as there was a lot of droppings in the utensil drawers. We didn't let that spoil our stay and very much enjoyed it. Just want others to be aware to check the drawers for mice droppings to clean out.
This place sounds nice when you read about it and it looks nice in the pictures. It is even better when you get there. If you are looking for a place to stay in the country then stay here.

We really enjoyed the hot tub. It was probably our favorite part of the stay. The rooms were cozy. We also enjoyed being able to connect to the tvs and watch our own things and we played jeopardy! Our biggest issues were with the cleanliness of the kitchen dishes. I don’t know if the dishwasher has a problem but we ended up buying plastic and paper utensils and dishes because we didn’t trust the dishwasher and how clean most of the dishes were. When we got there, there was several dirty dishes that people had put away (dirty salad bowl, dirty knife’s and cups, etc). It was also incredibly cold downstairs and when having two heaters going the power would go out. There was also lots of lady bugs. I have never seen so many in my life. The checkout process was simple. Except it asks of us to start a load of laundry but, we could not find laundry detergent anywhere and when I messaged the host about it, they saw my message and didn’t respond. All in all it was a good trip but we would not choose to stay here again as there is definitely room for improvement.
This rental was excellent for 2 families with 3 young kids and a dog. Plenty of space for us all! The pool was a major hit with the hot weather and when it rained, we were still able to stay outside under the large porch. The area was beautiful, but there wasn’t much nearby for activities. That was fine for our group with the pool being used each day. Our only stressor was lack of communication regarding access instructions. I reached out 2x within 72 hours and didn’t receive a response until day of check in. That was completely fine, but the Vrbo policy states you must specify the timeframe you will receive the code. It would have avoided me reaching out multiple times. Overall this rental had everything we needed and we said we would stay again!
We booked 8 months ago for a family vacation and when we arrived in the area which was 3.5 hours from home the property manager finally called me after getting multiple messages from me on what time we would be there. Which she told us someone else had already checked into the cabin we rented. So the 9 of us was left with nowhere to go on a busy Labor Day weekend! Which was after we had already gone to the grocery store and bought our feed we needed for the long weekend! We scrambled to find a hotel that could accommodate us for at least the 1st night which we had to eat out since we had nowhere to cook our food! We luckily found 1 house to rent for all of us in McGregor and they let us check in the next morning. But we did not go through VRBO for that one!
