This is a beautiful property with a fantastic host. Corinne was so kind, welcoming and accommodating, we felt we were visiting family. We enjoyed the peaceful, laidback environment, the fruits from trees, the nature night sounds, bright stars and the sweet animals. Corinne also helped us in an emergency situation; she was an absolute sweetheart. Wish we had more time to spend there. We will be back. The Hamakua Coast lived up to its reputation.

Corinne is an excellent host and we left feeling like friends after our 10 days at the property. It was the perfect retreat to soak up the rural ambience and relax. We felt very much at home and the advice on activities and eateries were excellent. Thank you for a great stay.

A remarkable place

A very spacious accommodation on a farm with acres of fruit trees. Warm, hospitable hosts. Scenic countryside at a bit of elevation from the coast, so there are cool breezes in the evening. There is a full kitchen with all the conveniences you could want AND an outdoor pool. Highly recommended.

My husband and I stayed for 30 days. Corrine was a most welcoming host. She gave us a tour of the farm and supplied us with many examples of the fruit that grows on the farm. While there the sheep had lambs. It was great. She gave us tips about the island and was very helpful. The apartment is huge. We had a lot of room. It was the cleaniest home we have stayed in. It is quiet and comfortable. It was located so it was easy to go into Hilo or explore the rest of the island. It was a wonderful stay. We will always remember our time on the Big Island. Thanks Corrine!

Hilo Hideway

Beautiful property in a superb location to explore on the Hilo side. Corinna was a wonderful host, treating us to a tour of the property, as well as fresh eggs and veggies. Sorry we weren't able to meet Norman. Maybe next time. I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else.

We would stay here again without hesitation

My fiance and I spent three nights at the Mermaid Sanctuary. We found the accomodations very much to our liking, super spacious and very unique when comparing this property to a hotel or condo. Definitely more personality than the average night's stay away from home. Our hostess was very good about communicating with us if something out of the ordinary happened (the automatic gate went out of order for a brief bit). We are both fussy but we would recommend the property and intend to stay again. Thanks!

our stay at Hakalau

the accommodation is spacious, with the kitchen and living room area being semi-outdoors, wich is very nice, given the climate on Hawaii. The bedroom offers a direct access to the garden and the pool. Just behind the pool you'll find the entrance to the amazing farm gardens with orchards full of tropical fruit, which we were allowed to gather. Corinne was an excellent host. She went well beyond what can be expected and offered lots of tips for eating in Hilo and activities in the area. We'd love to come back.

Serenity

What a pleasure! If our plans had been different, we’d have stayed here the entire time! It’s just what the doctor ordered, and then some - idyllic surroundings and plenty of room, not only in our unit but also on the property. Corinne has thought of pretty much everything, including nice details like plush towels, and she’s a very pleasant person. This North Hilo location is an easy drive to popular places, and a relatively comfortable distance to Waimea or Waikoloa. We would definitely stay here again, and can heartily recommend it to easygoing travelers who are looking for novel accommodations.

We had such a beautiful stay here. Corinne is a wonderful host- hardworking, gracious, funny, and genuinely down‑to‑earth. The suite is on the first floor of her home, with a fully enclosed bedroom and bathroom and a screened‑in porch living area that gives the whole space a peaceful, glamping‑style feel.Because the porch area is open to the breeze and the sounds of the farm, you really do feel immersed in nature. Little visitors like geckos may wander through from time to time, which felt charming to us, but it’s helpful for guests to know it’s a true farm setting. The 12‑acre organic fruit farm is absolutely gorgeous… lush, serene, and full of life, including the sweetest baby sheep!!! It felt like a little Garden of Eden, and I loved every second of it.Corinne went above and beyond during our stay, even bringing us to a local chocolate farm that buys her cocoa and showing us a beautiful waterfall. It was peaceful, authentic, and full of heart. I’m so grateful for the experience.

Amazing introduction to the authentic Hawaii

Corinne and Norman were fantastic hosts. The place was large and well appointed. We got in late and appreciated the thoughtfulness of some coffee and cream in the fridge for the next morning . The real bonus here is Corinne and Norman. They were a font of information, providing wonderful insights about the vegetation on the island as we walked around her farm site, hearing from Norman about special hidden gems that only the locals know about, and getting the low down on what it really takes to live on the island. We will stay here again and certainly recommend to friends.

Corinne warmly welcomed us into her place and showed us around when we got there after dark. She had many recommendations for local restaurants and sight-seeing, which we were very appreciative of. She has a beautiful property that lies in a “rainforest like” antmosphere and every morning we woke up to the sounds of a variety of birds and it was so peaceful. She gave us a tour of her property, telling us about the varieties of fruit that grow behind her place and sharing some of that fruit with us as well. Corinne is very knowledgeable on the culture and history of Hawaii, as well as the unique geological features the island has to offer. Staying with Corinne felt like staying with family and she was always up for conversations about anything. She went over and beyond in making us feel welcome and took it upon herself to show us some of the hidden gems the area has to offer. We will always remember our rejuvenating experience staying at Corinne’s on our big island holiday.

Nice Location

We like staying at property with acreage in quiet neighborhoods and this was great for that, while being close enough to Hilo for our needs on this trip. We would stay there again.
