Honestly, I didn't have high expectations before arriving, but after experiencing it, everything was great, from the clean rooms and comfortable beds to the very helpful and friendly staff
The hotel's location is quite convenient, with easy access to nearby restaurants and other amenities. The rooms aren't overly luxurious, but overall they're decent and equipped with all the basic necessities
I was truly impressed with how the hotel maintained a consistent level of cleanliness from the reception area to each guest room, creating a professional and trustworthy impression
The hotel features a quiet co-working area with comfortable desks and chairs, strategically placed power outlets, and ample lighting, ideal for guests needing to handle urgent tasks while still enjoying a professional and focused workspace
Room was excellent, staff were kind and helpful. Amenities were good, however the pool area could do with some maintenance, it’s starting to become a bit grubby and run down. No umbrellas were out.
specifically chose to stay at Novotel Ha Long Bay after researching properties in the area because I wanted two simple things: a swimming pool and a private balcony where I could enjoy a cigarette. At over $140 AUD a night, you expect premium service and full transparency during the booking process. Unfortunately, that was not the case.
Upon arrival, I was deeply disappointed to find out that smoking is strictly prohibited on guest room balconies. This crucial rule is completely buried in the fine print on booking websites. Had this been made explicitly clear upfront, I would have gladly booked one of the many cheaper, excellent alternatives in the area. Spending a premium for a balcony you cannot use the way you intended feels like a bait-and-switch.
What makes this policy entirely nonsensical is that while you are banned from smoking in the isolation of your own private balcony, the hotel actively permits smoking around the public pool area—where families and young children are running around. Banning it on a private balcony while allowing it around kids in a communal space makes zero sense.
To top off the disappointing experience, the hotel also completely forgot to clean my room during my stay—a basic standard you shouldn't have to worry about at this price point.
If you are a smoker looking for a premium, hassle-free stay with a private outdoor space and reliable service, save your money and look elsewhere in Ha Long. The booking information here is highly misleading to
We stopped for a very brief one night stay before boarding the Mon Cherie Cruise HaLong Bay..it was comfortable, quiet and provided hot breakfast. The swimming pool is lovely..we ate at a great local Italian restaurant in very close walking proximity Vinace. A perfect 20 hour stop over.
The staff and wonderful and kind. They ensured we had a room with both balcony and bathtub, a lovely large comfy room. The location is good to the clubs, market and many shops and restaurants. The showers were exceptional with super hot water and great pressure. The breakfast was a great value with many options. The bed was a proper king and the blackout curtains did just thay. The only the only thing i would recommend is to add chairs to the balcony and teach the bartenders how to pour a drink with more than 20 ml of liquor. Recommend. blackput curtains did exactly that. The only
Clean and well situated property with lots to do in walking distance. Staff was friendly and helpful, but the bed was not up to par. It was hard and springy like sleeping directly on a box spring. It was pretty bad.
We enjoyed our room and the facilities, including the pool. However, we found the food was lacking in quality. Our room wasn't properly cleaned when we arrived (there was someone else's underwear on the floor and the mugs were not clean) and we had to ask the staff to clean it again. That being said, the staff were extremely helpful and kind. They definitely made the stay better. We apparently came during "off season" which made the whole area seem like a ghost town. We did find some good places to eat tho, and the bay cruise we did was as beautiful as we imagined.
This was meant to be a four star hotel but I didnt think it was. First of all, the greeting was awful. It was that bad, I wouldnt consider I had a greet and meet. Staff looks disengaged. There was a smell to the hotel. Rooms were old and wooden floors were creaking. The lift doors could really do with a clean. There isn't much lighting in the rooms or the halls. It was very dim all round. The hotel location as it was near the beach clubs, not only you heard some of the music but you would feel the vibration at night.
Check in and check out was easy and quick though.
Food was expensive than anything at the hotel as expected so I just went outside for food. Even then it is a lot less options than in the centre.
Its meant to be opposite the Ha long night market and I thought there would be food stalls and others but there isnt much so we ended up going to the convienence store.
Overall I would never come back to this hotel. It's like a ghost town.
Excellent staff. The team @ the front desk, bar & restaurant were all very helpful. Hotel room and pool were also very clean. Everything about this place was great. Would definitely stay again.
