Difficult to reach host prior to check-in. Checked in and were appalled at condition of property. Very dirty, lots of trip hazards, random bucket of water in a closet, gum on patio door track, carpets hadn't been vacuumed. Two of the windows were covered with plywood. I spoke to host and he argued that property was clean and refused to give refund. VRBO similarly refusing to intervene for refund. We stayed here one night and moved to a different house the next day. I attempted to cancel the reservation, but the VRBO app wasn't working on the island (patchy internet access). This property should not be rented by anyone. Overall terrible experience.
