About this property
Sheep’s Knob Refuge- ..Take refuge in Him. Ps 34:8
Our cabin is located 12 miles out of Franklin, NC near the Little Tennessee River. We are in easy traveling distance to whitewater rafting, kayaking both flat water and whitewater, fly fishing rivers, gem mining, zip lining, horseback riding, Deep Creek tubing, river tubing , The Appalachian Trail, hiking trails, waterfalls, Smoky Mountain Train excursions, Cherokee attractions/casino, Dollywood, Smoky Mountain National Forest, Blue Ridge Parkway, Elk viewings and Biltmore Estate in Asheville. The space Our cabin is on a quiet mountain 12 miles NW of Franklin, NC. Elevation about 2,000 ft. It has 2 bedrooms with 2 baths, king and queen sized beds and a bunk bed in a commons area.. Our favorite feature is our covered side deck with table and chairs for quiet meals while being entertained by the Hummingbirds vying over our two feeders. Plus, we have a fire pit where guests can gather to toast s'mores. And nothing beats the coziness of the gas burning stove for those chilly evenings or mornings. We have lots of family and children’s games and puzzles in the commons area plus books and DVDs. We also have Dish network satellite TV with DVR in the living room and the Master bedroom. Satellite WiFi allows Face Time and Zoom conferences.. Guest access Guests have sole access to the whole house with hiking sticks for walks on our mountain or other nearby trails & outings near our many beautiful rivers and waterfalls. Our favorite place to picnic is at Deep Creek near Bryson City where there are tube rentals for tubing and picnic tables with grills, changing rooms and bathrooms. Bryson City is also where train excursions originate and a must see train museum with a huge working multiple model train layout. Be sure to check our Guidebook for plenty of things to see and do. Other things to note We don’t allow pets for the comfort and peace of mind for other guests who have pet allergies. We are also a non-smoking listing.
Because we are 12 miles from Franklin, NC, we message our confirmed guests complete information about local grocery stores so they can pick up groceries before arriving at the cabin.
Additional note: As further precautions during the pandemic we block off dates between guests to be able to clean more thoroughly. We use Lysol Laundry Sanitizer additive for all towels and washables. We also wash all bed linens including quilts, blankets, and even the mattress covers. We leave a container of alcohol wipes for our guests and liquid hand sanitizer. Of course we wipe down remotes, switches, door knobs and keypads with alcohol wipes too. We spray non-washable fabrics with Lysol disinfectant spray. Just trying to keep our guests and us safe from infection.

We had an amazing time here. Loved the sunroom with beautiful views. Loved watching the birds on the side porch. Very quiet place. The property is so well maintained and the owners are so caring and welcoming. We will definitely be back.
We enjoyed our time at The Sheep's Knob Refuge. Loved the privacy and being able to escape! We will plan to return soon. Home owner was very helpful and kind.
The place was spotless and everything you can imagine was provided by the hosts. From firewood to birdseed for the feeders and everything in between. Communication with Graham the host was very easy, excellent, and friendly. Would definitely stay here again!!!
We really enjoyed staying in this cabin. Love the rustic view. The owner and his wife were such wonderful host. The only thing for me was I have a big truck and hard to turn around. I’m not a good backer upper. lol. But would try again.
We loved this place. Everything was clean and ready for our arrival. The kitchen was stocked with plenty of dishes and spices. We enjoyed sitting on the deck and listening to the birds and squirrels.
The cabin was a wish come true, absolutely gorgeous. Found it well equipped, absolutely nothing negative. We rarely stay in a cabin more than once (we like different locations in N.C.). Sheeps Knob will be an exception, just can’t say enough positive things about our stay. Graham and Linda were superb hosts.
My friends and i had a wonderful time at Sheep's Knob Refuge. Graham and Linda made sure we had everything we needed at the cabin and made great recommendations for things to see and places to go. Definitely would go stay again.
Graham happened to be there when we arrived (early) and was so helpful and happy to share i fo about the area. the cabin was perfectly prepared to host qith all the usual amenities and more! these people are so nice! dont expect a luxury condo you get a real, homey, comfortable, warm and well prepared place to stay. everything worked and beds slept sooooooo good! plenty of toiletries and all u need for a weeks stay!
My husband, 7 yo, 2yo and I stayed for a long weekend. We were visiting the area because we booked the polar express. The property owners were great communicators! They told us everything we needed to know and offered information about the area. The house was very clean and had everything we needed. We would stay again if in the area.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The property was clean and comfortable and stocked with everything we needed. What made it extra special is that the outside porch furniture was also clean. The porch and daybed beckoned us to relax and enjoy the mountains. The location is close to Franklin center and 25min to Bryson and Fontana Lake. Check out was a breeze. Would definitely stay here again.
Enjoyable quiet couple of days in in the mountains enjoyed watching the shooting stars at night. mountain view was nice but could have been better if a couple of the little trees were removed
Part of the deck was'nt accessable. We loved the swing on the deck but there needs to be a shade of some type to pull down when sitting out there because the sun beats in on you and gets too hot.
Everything in the listing was as described. Communication with Graham and Linda was on point. They ensured we were taken care of and had what we needed. Plenty of instructions on how use everything. The location was very quiet and private. Close enough to everything to get what you need but far enough away to have some peace and quiet.

While the accommodations would have been perfect and the owners very kind, the narrow, leaf covered path was a game changer for us. After spinning our wheels on wet leaves and sliding on a path with no room for error, we decided to leave.
This property had all the amenities we need for our short visit to the area: internet, a power recliner, no stairs, and a walk-in shower. The last 3 items were needed for my mother due to her limited mobility. Plus, it was located between family in Hayesville and the wedding in Whittier. The satellite internet was spotty at times more than likely due to the weather conditions in the area. Overall, it was sufficient for our needs.
We had an amazing week at Sheep’s Knob Refuge. The location is a perfect central location in the Smoky Mountains. We enjoyed a day trip to Dollywood (less than 2 hours away), shopping in Cherokee, hiking and tubing at Deep Creek Campground, and driving to the Wayah Bald observation tower. When we weren’t out hiking or playing we enjoyed sitting on the porch and watching the hummingbirds. My only regret is that we did not have more time to stay there. The cabin is stocked with everything you need. The kitchen even has a crock pot and electric griddle. The owners live down the street and are so kind and gracious. We felt very welcomed. Thanks for sharing your amazing cabin.
