"Kaikoura was one of the most memorable stops on our New Zealand trip. The snow capped mountains over the sea are absolutely stunning. The staff at Kaikoura Beach motel were so friendly and communicative. We were traveling by train without a car so we opted to rent their bicycles to explore the coastline and the seal colony. They offered to store our luggage so we could optimize our time and resources. We had one of the most beautiful and memorable days pedaling along the coast. From the hotel, you can walk across the street to take advantage of the sunrise and sunset over the ocean. One thing we learned is that although our advance research indicated there were Ubers available in Kaikoura, once we arrived we found that there were no Ubers in the area and no taxis waiting at the train station. We had no idea who to call and ended up walking to the motel which is not a bad walk as long as you aren’t lugging heavy suitcases (which we were). Contact the motel for numbers for taxi and shuttle service in advance if you are arriving by train. We used the shuttle to return to the train station. The service at Kaikoura Beach motel was definitely a solid 10 for us."

"Like: nothing. Dislike: unit for 2 people had no table to dine at, only a desk. Skirting board and wall lining on one side of the unit was split and cracked (quite severe damage), Toilet seat was very loose and quite unsafe and it was pointed out to us that receptionist had been unable to get “name” to fix it yet. Had to leave shower window open when showering as steam etc would trigger the fire alarm installed in the shower. Won’t go back."

"Location was great with only 10 minute walk to shops and eateries. Parking provided free on site. Great views from level 1 room. Washing machine in the room was extremely handy. Robyn the manager was very genuine and helpful. Great place to stay."
