A lot of reviews for this house were quite bad. This is the review of the room we had on the ground floor. Massive room & bathroom. Shower for less able people & a lovely big bath. Everywhere was spotless. We had a 6 foot bed that was very comfortable. Yes, the wallpaper was old & stained but this house is very old & must take a great deal of upkeep. The dining room was lovely, as was the breakfast Our friends had the room next door & their opinion was the same as ours. All 4 of us would definitely return

Beautiful hotel and grounds in a great area, within walking distance of the shops, restaurants and riverside walk. The staff were very helpful and breakfast was superb with no wait. The hotel is a little run-down and needing investment but that was reflected in the price I paid; the overall experience and service was first rate.

My reaction on arriving was that the building was uninhabited. Sadly it was the hotel that I had booked, and looked more like a hostel for the homeless. To say it had seen better days would be very kind. The people on check-in were nice enough. The linen and towels clean. However, if I had arrived early enough in the day I wouldn't have stayed and I would have got my money back.

My room was clean, warm & very comfortable. Easy WiFi connection. Plenty of tea/coffee facilities. All staff were so helpful and friendly, but full marks go to the lovely chap at reception, who helped with the 'uncorking' of my birthday bottle of vino! A perfect stay on my way home to Kent.
