( voir le francais ci-bas) Exquisite accommodation bordered on the north by the magnificent St.Lawrence, and on the south by the Lac St-Francois National Wildlife Reserve, a Ramsar (UNESCO) internationally recognized wetland. Ideal for night skywatchers, birdwatchers, hot tub lovers and fishers. Two well equiped kitchens, 2 full bathrooms plus ensuite powder room off the master bedroom make it ideal for multigenerational gatherings or for small business retreats. Ideal location to celebrate a wedding or a special birthday event. For larger retreats (12-15 people ), additional accomodation is available in adjacent cottages on the property. Walking trails on the wildlife reserve are accessible on foot. Canoe, kayak and paddle boards are available on the property on request. In the summer, months, the National wildlife reserve offers guided canoe trips on the St. Lawrence, including guided tours to Thompson Island, a First Nation-operated site where you will be exposed to a unique introduction to indigenous culture. View a potential 200 migratory bird species, including 5 species of heron, the regal Sandhill Crane, egrets, osprey who actively fish on the bay in front of the cottage, and bald eagles. Foxes, rabbits, otters, beaver, mink and muskrats are commonly seen on the shore and along the waterfront. Deer may occasionally are seen swimming out to the the islands. A rich wildlfe is found in the archipelago of marshes that make the marine environment unique. Several rare species of turtle are found on the reserve. Plant biologists will also find species of interest that are unique in Eastern Canada. In season, enjoy the small cross country ski trail on the property. Lake St. Francis is reknowed as one of the best muskie fishing lakes in North America, and is the location of competitions each year. A boat launch is available on the property and a stall in a boathouse is available on request. The cottage itself (Beauly) was designed by a family member who held a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Several of the artists' works can be seen in the cottage. The beauty of the space has been described by a recent guest as ‘like a poem’. The expansive living area was designed around a finely crafted pine cabin and this design feature resonates throughout the space. The 25 M (80 ft) deck provides panoramic views of the river where individuals or groups can meditate, practice yoga or tai-chi or simply enjoy the views of the river while heron patiently fish by the shore. Three foot-long carp can be seen along the waterfront in spring breeding season. Dundee municipality has the lowest number of units of light pollution in southern Québec, thus skywatching from the hot tub is a uniquely rewarding experience. On the property, you will visit an original well preserved one-room log cabin that was the first home of Highland settlers in the early 19th century. Other historic buildings can be viewe on the Point. The property is located in Dundee, one of the most pastoral farming communities in souther Québec and 'the North Country', It is ideal for bicycling, either for an hour of for day trips to visit other sites of beauty in the neighbourhood. A canoe and two kayaks are avaiable on request, as well as paddleboards. An adjacent, dedicated site on the property is provided for those who wish to enjoy a camp fire. We are in the process of developing a walking path through the 10 acre wooded are on out property which is home to rabbits, foxes, owls and deer, as well as a great number of small birds.
