Our little family of 4 really enjoyed the Tiny Peace of Zen. The cozy cabin was perfect for our ski weekend in Canaan Valley. Comfy and clean, right by the strip of restaurants and the grocery store, perfect. We want to come back with friends and book Zen Too next door in the springtime.
Had a wonderful time. Perfect for two and pup. Great backyard for the dog to run around. Comfortable beds. Close to skiing and walking to town . Would definitely recommend it.
The well-maintained property provided a comfortable home base for exploring Dolly Sods, Blackwater Falls State Park, Davis, and Thomas. While small, the space is cozy and has been outfitted and decorated with care and creativity. The outdoor space was great for our dog and would have been great for relaxing in warmer weather.
This was a great place, everything was clean. The backyard is awesome. Had some weather that did not permit much backyard time but will be great in nice weather.
I lived the size, perfect for myself and my dog. Very convenient to the restaurants in Davis and Blackwater falls.
Despite its size, it had everything you could need. The yard is big and would be great for entertaining. I was able to let my dog out in the yard w/o worry.
This is a very cozy tiny house! There was an issue when we arrived where the linens and towels had not been cleaned, but owner made quick amends and got everything back together for us. The kitchen was well-stocked with cooking equipment and dishes, the room temperature was nice, and we stayed warm and dry despite the rain. Overall an excellent home base for hiking, skiing, or exploring the small towns.
Another wonderful weekend in the Canaan Valley at Tiny Peace of Zen. Everything at the house is always immaculately clean and thoughtfully arranged and anything you need is just a few steps away in charming Davis. Our 10 month old labrador retriever puppy even managed to burn off some of that boundless puppy energy playing fetch in the back yard.
Our stay was very good- the location was centrally located to the places we wanted to visit - Blackwater Falls, Canaan Valley, the Dolly Sods and the town of Thomas. The fenced yard was perfect for our fur baby - he loved being able to run around. If you go during the week please note a lot of restaurants etc aren’t open certain days or have limited hours - hard to find a breakfast spot or places to have a drink. Also shops in Thomas only 2 were open on Wednesday. We had great food at Sirianni’s and wicked wilderness pub and good drinks and cool vibe at mountain state brewing.
The home was so cutely decorated with an industrial & cabin world meeting kind of vibe. Had everything we needed for a couples get away & close to restaurants, breweries & hiking. The only hiccup was when we arrived & the cabin was not cleaned. We called the property manager, they responded right away & cabin was cleaned about 45 minutes after our check in time. Not a huge issue as we were able to sit out back in the shade & just enjoy some down time.

Cedar-lined house, sketchy neighborhood
If you are allergic to CEDAR WOOD/OIL: BEWARE!!
First, the property managers didn't provide check-in details ahead of our arrival and were frustratingly impossible to contact by phone for hours. Once we entered the property, we were confronted with a heavy cloud of Pine-Sol combined with the highly allergenic and asthma-triggering scent of cedar wood paneling (the house's interior is lined with cedar from floor to ceiling). We were denied our request to relocate to another property that wasn't a cedar closet, so I was left to puff my asthma-rescue inhaler all night and cough throughout the day. Cedar wood absorbs moisture, so the air within the house was extremely dry during our stay, giving me nosebleeds every morning. I was miserable every minute inside "Peace of Zen." The house is a cute size (like a studio apartment) and has plenty of kitchen tools. I'll give a positive review to the fenced-in yard — my dog loved it.
The neighborhood is quiet but laced with abandoned properties and mobile homes in various states of disrepair. It *is* a walkable half-mile to downtown Davis' main street with restaurants and shops (most of which are closed Monday-Thursday during the summer). We tried to spend as much of our time as possible outdoors, in lovely WV's lakes and mountains and far away from this poorly conceived, cedar-lined tiny house.
We have stayed at Tiny Peace of Zen numerous times and it's always a great stay. Super clean and nicely furnished and great proximity to everything in Davis and the outdoor adventures beyond. Our dog loves the huge fenced yard too.
This place was great for a solo traveller here on a job! We stayed for a couple days, left, and then came back and were able to stay in this same cabin! Lovely little spot.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The cabin had everything we needed. Stargazing in the backyard was a highlight. It’s so peaceful here, we hope to be back soon!
