Private Oceanfront Retreat on Acadia’s Quiet Side, Harbor Views, True Maine
Where the ocean sets the pace, a private authentic world near Acadia Schoodic Point, away from the crowds of Mount Desert Island.
Set on the edge of Gouldsboro Bay in the working harbor village of Corea, this oceanfront home offers something increasingly rare on the East Coast: space, silence, and an authentic connection to the water.
Located on the Schoodic Peninsula, the quiet, uncrowded side of Acadia National Park, this is where those in the know come to experience Maine as it was meant to be: rugged coastline, lobster boats in the harbor, and days shaped by tide, weather, and light.
The home sits on a private stretch of waterfront with expansive views across the bay. Inside, an open-concept living space is designed to bring the outdoors in, with large windows, natural light, and comfortable gathering areas for family and friends.
Five bedrooms, four and 1/2 baths and a luxury sauna comfortably accommodate up to twelve guests, making it ideal for both quiet retreats and meaningful time together. Ideal for families and couples looking to unplug and reconnect, nature lovers who prefer quiet over crowds, and for those seeking an authentic Maine coastal experience.
What makes this place truly special is the oceanfront setting with direct access to the shoreline. Located in Corea, a historic working lobster village, not a tourist town, 10–15 minutes to Schoodic Point, one of the most dramatic and uncrowded areas of Acadia Panoramic water views and ever-changing coastal light. Peace and privacy that’s increasingly hard to find the experience.
Mornings begin with coffee as fog lifts off the bay. Midday might take you hiking the granite cliffs of Schoodic or exploring tidepools along the shore. Evenings are for fresh lobster, a glass of wine, and watching the light fade over the water.
This is not a resort, and that’s exactly the point. There are no crowds, no lines, and no distractions. Instead, you’ll find clarity, stillness, and a deeper kind of luxury, the kind that comes from being somewhere real.
Plan to bring groceries and enjoy cooking-in or fire-up the outdoor grill while enjoying a spectacular sun-set. Weather can be dynamic (fog, wind, sun), part of the Maine coastal experience. Bar Harbor and Mount Desert Island are about an hour away if you want a day trip.
If you’re looking for polished luxury, there are plenty of options. If you’re looking for authentic Maine, oceanfront solitude, and a place to truly rest and reset, this is it. The Haguelnn House has everything Coastal Maine has to offer.

We were pleasantly surprised by the remoteness of this location! It was a beautiful and educational view everyday!
Loved the sunsets, view of the mountains and getting acquainted with the surrounding towns!
I was raised in”Down East” NC and enjoyed the similarities!
Acadia is a beautiful NP!
This house is amazing and so close to the water! Our week here was foggy and a little rainy most days but we still enjoyed the quiet beauty, watching the waves and spending time together.
The house is well decorated and very comfortable and inviting with plenty of room for all of us.
Corea is a quaint little town; we enjoyed the atmosphere. All in all a great visit.
The house was beautifully set up for a lovely stay with our family. We had plans to visit some of the many preserve walks that are conveniently located nearby, however the house, beach and location itself was so charming we decided to stay in and enjoy it instead. The views each morning and night was especially breathtaking. We enjoyed seeing seals in the cove and hardworking lobstermen at work, right from the house and deck. The beach was a favorite spot to collect precious stones, and the deck to enjoy sunsets.
We went with a group of friends to celebrate a milestone.
House has amazing views, plenty of space to sleep, great kitchen and dining area, bbq, etc. We explored the area around the house along the coast which was gorgeous as well. We enjoyed the sunsets and stargazing and all the beautiful rocks and rock formations.
One note is that there are no shades anywhere so bring a sleep mask if that’s an issue for you. But we loved waking up to the beautiful view.
This property is absolutely stunning. Our group of 6 adults and 4 kids had an amazing time. I do think the property is a bit more catered towards adults rather than children/families with little kids. For example, there are no curtains in the property and the natural light coming in is a lot for nap time, so a lot of us put pack n plays in the bathroom or closet areas. There is also no bathtubs which would have been nice for the littles.
It is also VERY remote, I’m talking not even a gas station close by so keep this in mind when booking as well.
- 25 minutes from gas station
- 45 minutes to “real” grocery store
- 45 minutes to any urgent care/medical center
Overall we really enjoyed our stay and had a great time!
There is not enough good we can say about this property!!
So many memories made with our family! The house was by far laid out and set up for families to thoroughly enjoy the stay and the Space! Our family is from the area and wanted a secluded private, ocean front property! We enjoy wonderful family meals and lots of board games in the spacious dining room! We spent countless hours on the beach rocks, exploring the gorgeous beach, the stones were like no other we’ve ever found before! Our boys had so much fun doing art on the stones they collected, they added them to the stone collection of stone art other families have left!
The rooms are so spacious and private, and the beautiful gorgeous sun is a welcomed sight each morning!
The sauna was a huge hit after chilly morning beach combing. The front yard is the idea spot for large frisbee games and we enjoyed family bike riding in the area!
The management was the most professional and accommodating, along with White Wine etc as a welcome gift! Thank you to all, who helped us make our Fall retreat at this special place be the best ever!
See you next Fall!
If you’re looking for somewhere quiet far from the hustle and bustle, this is the place. The house was absolutely gorgeous with expansive views of the water and mountains in the distance. It’s a decent drive from the rest of civilization, but worth the time spent in the car. Stayed here with my husband and his parents as well as our 4 and 2-year-old. The kids thought it was a castle and had a blast exploring all the different areas of the house! The floor plan of the house would make it ideal for multiple families or groups of friends to have their own spaces, HOWEVER, please consider putting some curtains on the lower level rooms (especially the bathroom). Being right off the patio and not having a curtain to cover the bathroom window proved awkward a number of times during our stay. The house could have been a bit cleaner when we arrived and we also had an issue with the tankless water heater breaking one day. But the property manager was quick to respond and we had the issue resolved in a reasonable amount of time. Would stay here again in a heartbeat!
My wife and I have stayed in the Corea area since the 1980s but haven't been back to this particular area of Maine for several years. We decided to bring our extended family back which consisted of 3 generations, 6 adults, and 6 kids from ages 10 years to 14 months.
The house was perfect and everyone had plenty of room to spread out and play outside in the huge front yard. The rock beach was an easy climb from the house.
Our group generally left the house early for activities and returned mid to late afternoon. If you've never been to Acadia National Park I would highly recommend it. The entire park is stunningly beautiful and there is world class hiking, biking, kayaking, and boating opportunities within 20 minutes of the house.
The house itself is very large with a huge deck that looks out across the bay with Prospect Harbor on the other side. The house was very clean upon arrival and had multiple areas to congregate and relax both inside and out. One thing that may not be apparent is the that the two main areas to hang out are on the opposite ends of the house so if you are looking for separate areas to congregate this could be a plus. Also, as mentioned in other reviews there are no window coverings so it gets bright very early. An added bonus was the sauna.
Overall this is a great property in a great location with a short drive to get to multiple activities. Ashley was responsive to any questions that we had. I would highly recommend this house.
The property was perfect for our family get together. Plenty of space for 11 people to spread out and the views from the deck were amazing. We loved the location, close enough to Acadia but away from the crowds. Our family all agreed we would love to come again and hope to in the future.
This home was beautiful! There were tons of space, plenty of rooms and beds for the entire family. This home was super clean, cozy, games to play, books to read, and an outstanding view. I would highly recommend this home for a stay away from home!
Our stay was perfection! The property is gorgeous and well stocked. We were all relaxed and enjoyed our time there. It gets very bright in the morning as there are no window coverings, but wouldn’t want to cover up that view!
We thoroughly enjoyed our family vacation because of this home. It provided gathering space, personal space, ample kitchen and breathtaking views. Hearing the waves as you fall asleep and wake up is glorious.
The apartment is beautifully decorated with brand new kitchen, bathrooms, and furniture. Three of us were there for a week to do carriage driving in the park. The Nest is 5 minutes from where we stabled our horses.
Coffee on the deck in the morning, cocktails on the deck watching the sunset... with sights of porpoises, seals, bald eagles, herons and flickers in between. The house was everything we hoped it would be. We celebrated two 90th birthdays, and the home works well for those with mobility issues. We cooked a lot; the kitchen is quite functional and well-stocked (we added an oyster knife to the inventory), and the grill was near-new. On the practical front: The two living areas are at opposite ends of the house, which makes it nice if someone wants to read in one while crazy kids cause a ruckus in another. And one comment from another review we heeded - it's very bright early in the am, so sleeping masks are recommended.
