Visit one of the largest beer breweries in North America, just a short drive from Denver. Take a free tour and enjoy a sample of the local brews.

Head to Coors Brewery, at the base of the Rocky Mountains, to explore the place that has produced some of the country’s most popular beers since 1873. Taste a sample, view the memorabilia and discover how such large quantities of beer are created.

When you arrive at the brewery you will be directed to the parking lot where your tour will begin. The first 10 minutes of the tour is a trip on a shuttle bus to see many of the historic buildings of Golden, the town that is home to Coors Brewery. Once at the plant, you can take a 30-minute tour which explains the malting, brewing and packaging processes. The tour is conducted through free audio headsets so you can go at your own pace.

The Coors Brewery produces up to 13 million barrels of beer each year. Discover how beer is brewed on such a large scale. View the malt room from the mezzanine level and find out how the beer is packaged for different markets. Beer is produced to suit cans, bottles and kegs.

Sit on an ice-block chair within a refrigerated room to escape the Colorado heat and refresh yourself with three sample-sized glasses of beer or a non-alcoholic brew. Don’t miss the vintage memorabilia, such as historic cans and bottles, advertising material and old photographs in the final room of the tour.

The Coors Brewery in Golden is located about 15 miles (24 kilometers) west of Denver. It is best reached by car but a public bus also runs regularly between the cities. Parking and admission are both free of charge. Visitors wanting to sample beers here are required to bring government-issued identification to show they are of the legal drinking age. The brewery is closed Tuesdays, Wednesdays and public holidays.

All the Coors tour is listening to a recording on a controller and looking at displays. You see very little of the plant
