  • The second oldest building remaining on The Ohio State University campus, Orton Hall was opened in 1893. It is named after Dr Edward Orton, Sr. who served as Ohio State's first president, OSU Professor of Geology from 1873 to 1899, and Ohio's State Geologist from 1882 until his death in 1899. Orton Hall is built of 40 different Ohio building stones. In the outside walls, these stones are laid in stratigraphic order according to their relative positions in Ohio's bedrock. The only non-indigenous to Ohio stone used is Indiana Limestone to build the front steps. It was chosen because of its high concentration of embedded fossils. The bell tower was dedicated in 1915 and contains 25,000 pounds of bells that can be heard regularly tolling across campus. Encircling the top of the tower are 24 columns with gargoyle-like figures which are restorations of fossil animals.

A little expensive for one night, but still worth it! Warm and cozy beds. If you are looking for a a longer stay i definitely recommend it isn't very far from dining, shopping and even a movie theater..

I liked the desk/help staff , the clientele was not asgood. I didn't like the hotel allowed people to smoke on one of the floors. Also the elevators smelled of Marijuana. There were families living there that were loud. Too noisy, couldn't sleep too well.

Located in an industrial area off the freeway. Lobby door locked 24 hours a day. Front desk manned limited hours. The front desk person was courteous but sloppily dressed. Room was spartan in appearance. No hair dryer. The room was clean. Cleaning staff did a great job. I would skip this property in the future.

They treat you like children they have quite time at night and they only have housekeeping come around once a week. Someone stole my clothes out of their laundromat. Bad service overall

The property would be perfect had it not been for the roaches, I saw one the first night so I left all my things in the car, slept with the lights on. Maintenance came and sprayed, and I sprayed 2 days after, and they sprayed again...didn't see anymore the rest of my stay, other than that, the room and property was really good (a bit old) but clean, refrigerator worked really well. I didn't use the stove top, but microwave was clean. Good area, like 5 minute drive from lots of stores!
