Casa la cartujita was an amazing accommodation in Cartagena. Our room was clean and the concierge was so helpful with arranging transport and giving us recommendations.
Liked? - everything. Hard to say enough good things about my stay. Extremely friendly and helpful staff, excellent room, superb breakfast, great location. With only 7 rooms it felt more like a cozy home with super layout.
quiet and well staffed small hotel. excellent location and comfortable perch by which to explore cartagena.
breakfast was good!
we’ll definitely be back
This property exceeded our expectations. The rooms were fantastic, super comfortable beds and very clean. The service was incredible! The breakfast was also delicious. We would stay here again. We walked everywhere and didn’t need to take taxis.
The staff was so kind and went out of their way to continually check in on us and accommodate for our needs. We were even permitted a room change on our second day so that we could have a room with a street view balcony. The property is beautiful, quiet, and clean. Would definitely return and/or recommend this stay!
We spent two wonderful nights at Casa La Cartujita. The only regret is that we weren’t able to stay longer! Great, walkable area with many shops, restaurants, and sites around. The staff went above and beyond in every aspect. The area also felt safe - even when walking around alone (40 year old woman). Breakfast was lovely and delicious and the pool gave us a nice break from the heat.
This property is located inside the "Ciudad Amurallada". Excellent customer service. They are all smiles and friendly staff. Excellent breakfast ( free). We cool off inside the pool after our walk. Right across the street, we visited a wonderful restaurant. If you are interested in a place to be comfortable to sleep and cool off at the end of the day, this is it. You may have to walk upstairs and if you are unable that could be a problem, no elevators, but if you need help with your luggage just ask they will help, no fuss.
This was our second stay with Casa La Cartujita (we stayed there before the pandemic). It is located in a quieter part of the Walled City (further from the busiest touristy areas), but still within short walking distances of many excellent restaurants and shopping.
The staff is very accommodating. Rooms were clean, with excellent double-paned windows (we didn't hear any noise from the street at night). They make a very tasty breakfast to order, which was very convenient. Not everyone spoke English well, but we never had any issues communicating.
Most rooms are upstairs (~1 flight of stairs). Staff is helpful with the bags, but something to keep in mind if anyone has issues with mobility.
Overall, an excellent stay!

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Disliked: Amenities
We stayed there for four nights. And the Internet was out the entire time. This was an extreme inconvenience and no reasonable alternative was provided. No discount for the rooms. No extra accommodation. They attempted to comp coffee from across the street, but that was less than satisfactory because they were only open certain hours and you were only allowed to get one coffee and charged for the rest.
Additionally, there was construction going on next-door that went from nine in the morning till 5 PM which was extremely noisy and again not the staff’s fault but another inconvenience.
I would have chosen to switch hotels, however, every day they said it would be fixed the next morning.
The common areas are few and not air-conditioned.
However, the staff is very very friendly and as accommodating as they could be within their ability.
The room and the entire property were super clean and quiet. The AC was only inside guest rooms and dining area, which made the upstairs lounge pretty warm. However, the rooftop lounge and jacuzzi were beautiful! Oddly, the hotel didn't have light blankets; instead using sheets to add warmth when we only had the AC set to 68, but everything was really lovely, and the staff was very attentive and helpful.
The room was clean, staffs were nice and polite, breakfast was fresh. Just make sure if anything extra you order is free or not.
What I like most is the serenity of the hotel, which is nicely done with a touch of modern and trendy style.
Perfect and convenient location on the quiet side of the Walled City!
Excellent location, is close to many high rated restaurants, shops and La Serrezuela mall (Best for its architectural beauty, international and local designer shops) on a beautiful not as busy street. The rooms are clean and nicely decorated, with great A/C. There are several areas to hang around and/or work within the house. Pools in boutique hotels in Cartagena are small, this one has pool and rooftop with jacuzzi which is a plus. I have stayed here twice already, just love it!
An absolute must stay! Extremely clean and convenient to attractions and restaurants in walking distance. James and Jehis are so professional and the chef did a tremendous job cooking our complimentary morning breakfast which was to die for. There are taxi's all around to take you to attractions. There is a plunge pool on the bottom level and hot tub on the roof top. You don't have to leave the premises unless you want to. The front desk can order items for you. My husband and I ordered a bottle of wine from the front desk and also laundry service. Don't hesitate when booking this hotel.
This is a beautiful, quiet, lovely hotel. There is breakfast in the morning, with a cook who will make anything from their menu or anything else you can think to request. The staff are calm people who quietly helped with anything we needed. Only two complaints: 1) the television didn’t work, essentially - there were Netflix and other streaming services, but the internet never worked. Regular TV meant Spanish, and we don’t speak it, and 2) in our way out for the final time, it was early morning and dark outside. There was nothing illuminating the dark stairway, and I took a bit of a fall. Having said that, I would highly recommend this sweet, pretty little. hotel.
We stayed in this property as a baby moon getaway and it was perfect. We arrived early for check in since our flight got in early & they were able to accommodate us. The entire staff at this hotel is extremely hospitable & pleasant, from Alex to Juan Pablo to the cook, everyone was so lovely. The staff here always made us feel welcome & helped with any questions we had along the way during our stay. The stay includes breakfast that an actual cook prepares fresh for you each morning. By our last day the cook knew exactly who ate & drank what, it was perfect. The breakfast options aren't fancy but certainly not just a continental American breakfast so that was fantastic, we had fresh fruit every morning, eggs how we wanted them, a meat choice and bread along w/ fresh squeezed orange juice, coffee, hot chocolate or tea. We stayed in one of the front rooms on the second floor and used our balcony each night to look out at the street even though it was street facing the doors are double panned which helped keep out noise. The location of the hotel is ideal, if you're looking to stay in the walled city, this is a great option. There are plenty of food options in the walled city and just around the corner of this hotel street there are three restaurants all worth checking out. You can't go wrong on the location, service and stay quality. I'm a stiff lip with hotels but was very pleased with our stay here and would highly recommend it.
