Nearly all of them are built anew at the beginning of the tourist season and dismantled in April or May before the summer monsoon hits. The torrential rain and high water of these storms would likely tear them apart otherwise, and Goa's government wants to keep the hotels here small-scale and simple. They're also generally very reasonably priced.

  • Canacona is an administrative region in south Goa, in India. Canacona's beach belt, 'discovered' by tourism only after the 1990s, is among the most scenic. Palolem is a milder recreation of an east-meets-west Goan beach, with a rich variety of exotic food. Canacona is one part of Goa where hillocks jut out almost directly into the sea. Villages are tucked away in low-lying areas, which are carpeted by a sea of green-topped coconut trees. Until foreign migration and tourism came to this area, the coconut tree was the means by which many eked a living, apart from fishing.

Lovely find

Had a lovely stay in January for a week, the room was adequate for our stay, a comfortable bed, tv (if you like to watch tv), a/c and fan a balcony. The room is a bit small but wasn’t a problem the bathroom has hot water and good shower. The beach is a short walk from the accommodation lots of bars and restaurants around. I needed some washing doing when we arrived which Manjay (manager) sorted and was at hand for anything else needed. We liked Palolem and Sand Tent resort so much we’ve already booked to go back in December. Like everywhere around palolem the accommodation is basic but ours was clean, welcoming and quiet.

Most perfect stay

Excellent stay at Sand Tent beach house. Coming in from the Uk, We initially booked for 2 nights and then decided to stay for a further 4 nights. This was due to the outstanding services we received from Manjay and his team. He went above and beyond for us, offered a laundry service which we used and even took us to the market to get a few bits. He recommended lots of local places to visit and gave us tips and tricks to get around. The location of the rooms is around 5 minutes walk to the beach which was perfect for us as it was away from the late night noise. Close to lots of restaurants and cafe, a must is eat next door at Samarth Reshi, great for coffee, breakfast and snacks. The room itself is very clean, big with an en-suite wash room. Towels and water provided. Great stay, would highly recommend and can’t wait to come back! Thank you again to Manjay and his team for making our stay very special.
