The Guide’s River Cottage • Riverfront Retreat + Walk to Town
10/10 Excellent
"We were traveling with another family during our stay. All of our kiddos thought this place was way better than any other cottage we've rented. There was lots of space for the kids to explore! The proximity to town was something we had never experienced in Old Forge and we loved it!!! The river was fantastic! The host was very responsive to every message I sent and was a pleasure to talk to:) This is a great place to stay if you have pre-teens that like a little freedom to wonder."
"Wonderful property managers and staff, friendly and helpful. A beautiful property and nice, well stocked cabins. They even provided bedding. My only disappointment was that we had the only cabin that was not directly on the river."
"This lodge was the perfect fit for our friends group trip. The kitchen, living room, & dining room space was open concept & was perfect for allowing all of our large group to be together while not being on top of each other. We appreciated that the kitchen was fairly well stocked with typical kitchen items including a drip coffee pot and filters, blender, pots, pans, & platters for cooking & serving large meals, cutting boards, can opener, dishes, mugs, a griddle, etc. There were plenty fans for each room and a few portable AC units throughout the house. There were also games, markers & coloring books in the livingroom corner cupboard that we utilized. Of note, there were not quite enough towels for each guest in our group (we had 16 adults and 9 children). One room had towels under the bed that weren’t found until the end of the trip. We were thankful for firewood on site for the fire pit & found a functional kiddie pool/waterslide in the shed that the kids enjoyed. We found a pot in the cupboard & a few potholders with mold on them. We appreciated the washer & dryer on site, the distance from the house to the road & how it was fairly quiet road other than some ATV’s passing here and there (felt safe and secluded for little kids)Otter Creek down the road was a fun outing, we got some inner tubes from the local dollar general and enjoyed sliding down the natural water slides. This was overall a great fit for our group and we would love to return in the future."
"This is our second stay at this Vrbo. We use it for our annual four wheeling trip, when we have 3-4 guests. The house is off the main road and only has one neighbor at this time. You can fit two trailers and two trucks in the driveway with no issue. When you first walk into the house, there is a huge mudroom so your helmets and any muddy, boots, jackets, etc. can be taken off right at the door and hung up, which is very accommodating. There is also a bathroom when you first enter so you can use that to clean up before you go upstairs to the main level, which is where the kitchen, living room, bedrooms and another bathroom reside. It is a very open floor concept. It is very clean and there is always treats in a basket for you, or Keurig cups and all the coffee condiments that you would need. We enjoy this place. The host is accommodating and quick to respond."
"We loved it. Perfect size for family of four. Outside it kept the original camp feel. Inside it felt luxurious with simple redos. Having our dog was a bonus. "
