This is a beautiful and very unique property. The restaurant that is in the same building is also fantastic. I highly recommend both to anyone visiting the area.

Extraordinary rooms. You have to see it yourself to understand. Fantastic wine bar down the street called Newcastle Wine Merchant and breakfast at Schroeders is a must.

Each room is actually a full service apartment, min. 1200 sq ft. Newly renovated, it was beautiful. The microwave didn't work but Nathan went out and bought an electric kettle for the unit. The downtown location was so convenient for us to attend The Elvis Tribute Festival over the weekend. Jackie and staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

A Remarkable Find
Unbelievable hotel in a renovated Kress five and dime building. Our room was inexplicably enormous, but we'll dine out on it for months. The service was wonderful, although we had some issues with the television in the living area. For a newly opened hotel, a little strange that there were no usb ports in the room. A minor quibble for a memorable stay.

All round - pathetic
On arrival at the hotel at approx 1830, we were advised that our room had flooded and we couldn’t stay. There was no other room free because a wedding party had booked them all. They said they had tried to contact our mobile - checked the number and it was correct. We had no missed calls but they seemed surprised it was an overseas number. The staff did help us find an alternative place to stay in Darien as the hotels beside them were full as there had also been a festival on that day. They did check we were happy with the increased price as it was approx $38 more. As guest house owners ourselves, we would have been legally obliged to book somewhere else at an equal or better standard for our guests if this situation had arisen. We would also have been liable to pay the difference in costs. On contacting Hotels.com, they have confirmed that the hotel also get our contact email but again they failed to contact us. Very unprofessional and we are extremely dissatisfied with both Hotels.com and the hotel itself for not rectifying this situation.

Dorothy we are sorry your experience did not go as planned. As you mentioned in your post, there were attempts both by email and phone to contact you before arrival, additionally our desk staff did attempt to get you connected with another lodging location. You however were never told that room was "flooded" - it had a small water leak and we needed to address the issue right away. We aim for excellence and are sorry your experience was less than this.

From start to finish, The Kress was impeccable in service, cleanliness, friendliness, and accommodation. This property is very dreamy!! It's like an older historic warehouse or apartment building turned into a hotel. Newly renovated, brand new full-sized appliances and extremely clean, but still an old town feel. It was amazing. Brunswick is truly a hidden gem. Great place to stay!

The Kress was absolutely the most beautiful and luxurious place we have ever stayed! The decor from the brick wall to the stunning Christmas tree to the gorgeous furniture and lighting was inspired. We wish we had been able to stay longer because not only did we love this boutique hotel, but we really enjoy charming downtown Brunswick.

It’s a gem!
I loved this place! The front desk ladies are the best. Room was the cleanest room I’ve ever stayed in.. and I travel a lot. Kitchen, bed, sofa, shower, TVs… all excellent. Parked on the street 5 steps from the entrance. Highly recommend the Kress.

What an amazing experience! I could not be more impressed! The lady at check in on Saturday 12/16 was very welcoming and accommodating. She even got a luggage cart for us and personally walked us to our room. It really was a 9.5/10. Staff in restaurant very knowledgeable about wine and made excellent recommendations. I hate to knock it half a point but the housekeeper kept asking us if we were checking out yet and this started about 930am. We passed her in the hallways twice and both times she asked us. Not a big knock but did feel like we were being rushed to leave. Im sure she didnt mean it that way though.
