This was our first time to stay in the Oak Shores Community at Lake Nacimiento. Boaters beware.....we felt as if we fell into a trap set up by the association!!!! You may not park by the main launch ramp at all on the weekend or you will get a $100 dollar fine. Having been boaters for over 20 years, we listened to the management explain where to park etc. late at night on our arrival. Then when we went to launch the boat figured the parking lots would be clearly marked and figured we would park our vehicle where we see the others parked as you would normally do when you launch your boat.
The problem is the spaces are not clearly marked. The association has one small sign under at the bottom of a STOP Sign and two other signs just as you enter the first parking lot to the main marina. The actual parking spaces are not marked for "Owner Only" at all. We unfortunately didn't see the sign and there are two sections of parking lots so we left our truck and trailer in the second lot from the launching ramp, where there were plenty of spots available, only to come back and find a $100.00 fine attached to our car. We approached the association security and they had no "mercy" for us and the management basically gave us no support with this issue either. They said they had explained the parking situation, however, what they really needed to tell us is.."Don't launch at the main ramp on the weekend because there is no where you are allowed to park." I would have understood that!!! They said they told us to park behind the clubhouse, however, this parking lot was all full. This parking lot, which they said didn't belong to the association, was filled with vehicles and boats that were there for the duration of our stay and looked as if they were being stored there as they had cobwebs etc. attached. There is another launch ramp that renters can use on the weekend and park there. I recommend you use that one and if you are lucky you will find parking. We've never boated anywhere where you are not allowed to park your truck and trailer at the ramp while you are boating. It clearly was a trap for renters set up by their association. We even spoke to other residents there that agreed. So Boater's Beware!!!
The house was very nice, as described. However, the BBQ was leaking gas even after the management replaced the gas tank and we were not able to use it. Hopefully, the owner will replace the BBQ.
