Check-in did not go well. I followed the host agency’s instructions snd notified the concierge of our time of arrival. No response. When we arrived, nobody was there. We were eventually let in by the woman who had come by to clean the apartment, 1 hour and 45 minutes after our arrival. I later let the host agency know about the issues we encountered at check-in and did not receive a response.
The apartment was fine and mostly as described. However, the hot water tank was out of order. There was absolutely no hot water. We contacted the host immediately, but getting a hold of them was incredibly difficult (no response after business hours and none of my voicemail messages were returned). Nobody came by until 2 days after our arrival, when we were told the hot water tank would not be repaired during our stay. We were finally (after I called vrbo to complain) given access to a different apartment, in which we spent the last 2 nights our stay.
I spent hours of our stay attempting to contact the host agency, leaving messages and making sure we would not miss the agency’s calls, should they call. We accommodated their schedule (which required us, at one point, to cut a visit to a nearby town short to meet an agency employee at the apartment, only to find out on arrival that they had decided not to come until the next day). The entire stay was an incredibly frustrating and stressful experience, and the agency has told us that we would not be compensated for any of it.
