This house was a perfect home base for our family of eight while we were in town for my daughter’s wedding at Appalachian View. Close to venue and grocery, and had perfect space inside and outside on the decks to relax. The game room was much enjoyed as well. It exceeded our every expectation, and we hope to come back!!!
We loved our stay and the indoor and outdoor features were great for a family get together for the eight of us. There were a few items that need fixed for future guests: the drain in the main bedroom suite and the second floor hall bathroom were clogged; the shower knob in the second floor king suite was broken; the shower curtain rod in the lower level bathroom was broken; the gutters on the back deck were clogged so ran over during a rain storm.
This house was perfect for our family vacation. The view was incredible, and the game room was a hit! We loved being able to sit together for dinner at the beautiful table. I highly recommend!

Very cozy! The place felt bigger than what the pictures showed which was great. Highly recommend staying at this house for large groups.
The house is perfect for a large family and even better for the younger and older adults with the layout of the house. We really enjoyed our stay . Beautiful home, property, and location.
Overall a great experience. I would say pet friendly, just not a huge area for the dogs to go potty. We had a few issues, but management was very quick to respond and remedy the problem. Even on the Christmas day. Beautiful view of Grandfather mountain. The game room needs some items repaired, but the kids and adults still enjoyed it. Also need an updated list of items provided in the kitchen. It would have been nice if the place was decorated for Christmas so we did not have to improvise for what we paid. Location was perfect to everything we wanted to do in the area and very accommodating for our group of 12. Ages ranging from 8-68. Would totally come back, but will bring mattress toppers. The beds were a little stiff for everyones liking.
Beautiful house! So much room for everyone to spread out and enjoy our stay. Just a few things need attention by owner. The downstairs couch legs are broken and the downstairs bedroom door does not lock.
Stayed for a week with family and friends. House was clean and spacious. Plenty of room for multiple families, with space for people who needed to work remotely to get away from the kids. Property manager was responsive and answered questions quickly.
We really enjoyed staying in the high country. Very relaxing, great central location to skiing, hiking and other small towns to shop/eat. Kids stayed busy in the evenings with everything in the game room. I’m pretty sure our dog didn’t want to leave either haha. Would definitely recommend.
We made this location the place to host our weekend marriage retreat with 3 other couples. The location is scenic. There is a lot to do nearby and there is plenty of space for everyone to spread out or congregate around the dining room table and enjoy time together. Overall, we would recommend this to others pursuing similar objectives.
We loved every minute of our family vacation! Each family had their own “floor” which helped anchor everyone. The amenities were wonderful and the game room was a big hit! My only feedback is that the kitchen lacked some basic equipment that would have made dinners easier. Our family loves to gather around food and with dietary restrictions and picky eaters, we prefer to cook at home. We made it work, but for a home of this caliber, it was disappointing.
We absolutely LOVED our time at VILLACOSTALOTTA.....it was the perfect house and location for our family trip celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary!! We had 6 adults, 2 children (ages 8 & 10), and 1 puppy with us. The house was exceptional and we made many memories there....we loved the views, game room, corn hole game and having lots of space for everyone! Also, theTynecastle neighborhood was so beautiful and it was easy access to town and the main roads.
Any questions or concerns were quickly addressed and answered by the rental agency.
Our family all agreed that we would love to stay at Villacostalotta again someday!
We really enjoyed our stay. The kids LOVED the game room, and the house was plenty large enough for our group. The house was a little worn, but very comfortable. I only have a couple of things that could have been better.
While it looked like the house had been clean, it seemed that it had not been cleaned very recently. There was a lot of dust on the indoor surfaces, and the porch and outside windows were not very clean.
There were no instructions or book in the house for the equipment or what do to when leaving. However, all the light switches were labeled, which was wonderful.
Even with these two things, I would highly recommend the house for a family stay.
The house was remarkable. However it really does need some work. Ex: water stains on walls, tears in couches up and downstairs, very dirty carpet downstairs, big chucks out of several walls, the front porch and railings were covered in bird poo, the house was listed as pet friendly but the plants outside were poisonous to animals. One of our dogs ingested something off the plant out front and got very sick. Several of the comforters were dirty, one of the sheets on the middle bedroom upstairs had to be changed before using because they were dirty. Even though we are dog lovers, there was a lot of dog hair everywhere when we got to the house. The listing stated there was a mattress under one of the beds, there was not. The kitchen was not as well stacked as listed. The house was remarkable, like I said. Best view we have had in all the years we have been coming to the area. I do understand that the recent storm has handicapped a lot of the home owners. I have to add that we needed more propane. The gentle brought us a new tank right away and was so Kind. Plus the house cleaning crew were delightful. I also contacted the rental office and was treated so kindly each time I reached out. A return email almost before I sent the message!!!I appreciate the opportunity to stay in the house. We will most likely give it a try next year.
The house is lovely--very spacious, comfortable beds, smart tvs in every room, huge closets, 3 cozy fireplaces, and lots of bathrooms. There is a fantastic view off the deck, with great seating, a gas fire pit, and (on the lower deck) some awesome chair swings. The game room was spectacular--with pool table, air hockey, foosball table, shuffleboard table, and dart board. It also had the best hot tub we have ever been in at a rental property. It is clean, spacious (seats up to 6), and nicely placed where you can see the moon, stars, and mountains. We had a fabulous time!
