For horse enthusiasts, Curlew Cottage in Eldwick is a special retreat, nestled on a working cattle farm and horse livery. This charming barn, once home to milking cows, has been thoughtfully converted into a cosy, character-filled cottage that retains its original beams, situated right in the heart of the livery yard. Guests can enjoy watching the horses come and go, observe their grooming sessions, and might even see a visiting blacksmith at work shoeing the horses.
The cottage is entirely on one level, making it an excellent choice for those who may have difficulty with stairs. A ramp provides wheelchair access, and the wide doorways ensure easy movement throughout the space. Positioned at the start of the Dalesway trail, which passes right by the cottage, guests will find numerous walking and cycling routes available right from their doorstep. While the cottage is set back from the road and the nearest village is a mile away, it is recommended for visitors with their own transport.
This ground-floor cottage offers spacious accommodations for up to 4 guests and features an open-plan living area. A wood-burning stove creates a warm and inviting atmosphere, with comfortable seating around the TV. For cosy nights in, the cottage is stocked with books, board games, and children's toys. The kitchen is fitted with everything you need to prepare meals, including an electric oven and hob, fridge, microwave, and dishwasher. The breakfast bar provides a casual spot to enjoy your morning meal. Enjoy meals together in the separate dining room, which features comfy seating and a dining table—perfect for lingering over a cup of tea while planning your daily adventures.
When night falls, retreat to one of the two spacious bedrooms: a double bedroom and a twin bedroom that includes a cot. The family bathroom features a shower over the bath and a WC for your convenience.
All electricity, logs, bed linen, and towels are provided. A cot and highchair are available upon request. Parking for one car is conveniently located next to the cottage, with additional parking available in the yard. The garden features outdoor furniture, though it may be overlooked from the yard.
