We had a fantastic time at the beautiful River House. It was the perfect getaway from our busy surroundings, offering a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. We enjoyed playing pool, swimming in the river, fishing, and exploring the beach for unique rocks and shells. While the nearest restaurants and grocery store are a short drive away, every meal we had at the local restaurants was absolutely delicious!

Wonderful house for a large group

This is a beautiful house with gorgeous views of the river and is great for a friend or family reunion! We gathered 6 families, with kids ranging from 1 to 8, and had plenty of room and so much fun! The kitchen/dining area was amazing (and huge) for prepping meals and allowing all 18 of us to eat together. It was super hot when we were there, but we were able to play on the river beach some and take the kayaks out. We spent a lot of time at the community pool, which was great for kids. The house was very clean and had everything we needed! Frank was great about answering our many questions before we arrived.

Spacious family get together

We had a great stay for an 80th birthday celebration. Clean, spacious house with large kitchen and dining area. Bikes and water toys were fun for the kids. Large deck to gather for sunset. Community pool was an added bonus for the really hot days!

Family water front vacation

The home really worked great for our family. 3 generations where easily accommodated. First floor bedrooms where a must. Unique and spacious interior. Could not ask for a better spot on the water. If we return to the area we would certainly want to stay her again

Excellent Property and very responsive owner

The property was fantastic, as described. Crabbing was good. Frank was very responsive at all times. We had an issue with the hot water. Frank and 2 of his workers were there the next day to fix it. We did not encounter any jellyfish where we swam in front of the house. Our only issue was the location is not ideal for doing other things as there’s just not a lot to do unless you drive an hour away. Our teenagers made the hour one-way trip a few times to go elsewhere. Overall, we had an awesome time!!!

Family vacay!

Everything was great, beautiful house, pickleball driveway, great screened porch. Sadly the VRBO app listed an elevator (elderly grandparents needed to get upstairs) but Frank worked with them to help get our fee back.

Fun family vacation

My family enjoyed spending a few days at this lovely home. The kids had a ton of fun swimming. There were a couple of jelly fish stings but it wasn't too bad. There were plenty of kayaks and paddle boards for everyone to enjoy. The house was well stocked with enough pillows and blankets for everyone. The kitchen was beautiful and well stocked but some of the kitchen pans may need to be replaced with newer ones. Overall it was a great experience, my family had a wonderful time and Frank was very helpful and quick to respond. Thank you!

Beautiful house, perfect for extended family!

We rented this home for our Thanksgiving celebration. Everyone said it was perfect. Some in our family slept in another house around the corner, but all 21 gathered here during the day. Kitchen well equipped. Lots of seating room inside. Very comfortable. Great view of the river and pretty sunrises. Owner very responsive.

Little Slice of Heaven ♥️

This home was absolutely gorgeous, I was pleasantly impressed by all the beautiful details of the home, from the large, inviting, accommodating kitchen- to all the thoughtfully placed bedrooms on all levels. The owner was great to communicate with! We look forward to returning!

Gorgeous, well equipped waterfront rental

This house was truly amazing!! Plenty of room for the entire family, My 94 year old mom could stay on the main floor and enjoy the views and activity from inside the living room or on the deck. Every bedroom was comfortable with plenty of room to spread out. So many extras included. Pool table/hot tub was a blast. We also loved crabbing off the dock. Crabs every night for dinner. The beach was perfect for our grand children and the adults enjoyed floating on our huge raft and tied it to the pier at night. This place is truly a gem and we hope to return again. Thank you for sharing your home!

Wonderful Week!

We had the best time! It is a gorgeous and spacious house, and the beach and dock were perfect. Frank was so kind and easy to work with and we would all love to stay here again- highly recommend!

Great home for relaxing vacation

We enjoyed tremendously. Lots of activities and room to keep busy at house for entire family. Other than eating out on two occasions, we stayed at house for the week. Jellyfish kept us out of water so enjoyed the pool, hot tub and kayaks on the water. Fishing and crabbing were fun for the kids. We enjoyed the vacation tremendously!

Fun, relaxing week

This home was VERY clean, well-maintained, and spacious. Beautiful view of (and access to) the river. Great spot to unwind! We were disappointed at the amount of jellyfish in the water, but nothing to be done about that- glad we had a hot tub and access to the community pool. Also wonderful communication from host. Thanks for the stay!

Great Family Getaway

The perfect home for our group of 13. Ample space for everyone. Was great having to water and beach area so close to the home! Activities for all ages! Highly recommend!

Virginia Family Reunion

Lovely setting in a very nice house with great view. We would have been happier without the jellyfish. Kids couldn’t swim or be in water off beach at all because of stinging jelly fish. Had great time at community pool and in years and hot tub.

Weekend Getaway

This house is amazing! The open floor plan allows space for a large group to gather without feeling cramped. Everyone loved the pool table, the seating in the kitchen/dining area was perfect for playing games and doing puzzles, playing cards in the screened in porch and a campfire on the beach. The kitchen is beautiful and pretty well stocked; although, there was only one hot pad. There is plenty room for parking multiple cars. Since we were here in February we weren't able to take advantage of the water toys. My only con is that some of the beds were too firm - like sleeping on the floor. It won't keep me from coming back to this house. Thank you Frank for everything!

Great get away house

Wow!!!

This property is an architectural marvel. I was amazed at the creativity involved at expanding this house into a phenomenal river front property. If you have the opportunity, awake for a beautiful sunrise behind the river. The view from the large back porch or the dock watching sunrise is wonderful. We spent a lot of time gathering together as a family in the kitchen (with a table for 10 plus 6 more at the kitchen peninsula) or on the back patio enjoying the ambience. Because the house was updated/redone in the last few years it was clean and just awesome. The master bedroom and crow's nest are really spectacular. Much better than shown in the photos. This isn't your typical VRBO property but a true gem.

5 Star Dock Sovin

We had such a wonderful family vacation! The house is beautiful - spacious and accommodating. We had a lot of fun making family meals in the amazing kitchen. We loved all of the water sports - kayaks, SUPs, floats - but the kids (and adults!) loved jumping off the dock the most. Frank was super responsive and just a nice guy. We had a great time and hope to visit again.

Family Get Away

We enjoyed staying at the house. It is generous in size with comfy sofas and a huge, beautiful kitchen. We loved the proximity to the water and all of the water toys were well used. It was an enjoyable family vacation.

River House

We had a really great stay at River House. The house was extremely well appointed for our gang of 12-14 (two friends stayed nearby so they could bring their doggies but they ate and visited with us lots). Our group of 5 families has been renting houses together for more than 10 years and this was by far the best laid out kitchen and living space. Kitchen had everything we needed including a huge frig and freezer and loads of kitchen gadgets that even our chef dad was happy about. Between the huge dining table and bar, all 14 of us easily sat down to eat together and we all piled into the living room for games, or out on the beach for a campfire in the evenings. Our ocean kids were a little wary of river water and did not do too much swimming except at the pool, and day trips were just to far so we stayed put. The kids may have been a little bored but when we could get them all out on the kayaks and water craft provided by the house and boats we all brought everyone had a great time. The parents were very content to sit on the porch and watch the water and visit. Saw dolphins one evening, eagles and other great birds every day. Frank was super and answered questions promptly and thoroughly. Highly recommend for a quiet relaxing vacation.

4th of July Getaway

The property was perfect. It was my family of four along with two other families of 4. The kids ranged from 5 - 9 years old and there was never a boring moment. The house had everything you needed. There was not a lot to do in the surrounding area but there really was no reason to leave the house. We spent all day on the beach that was just steps away from the house. We used all of the water activities that the house had to offer and spent the evenings in the hot tub relaxing. It was honestly one of the most relaxing vacations my family has ever been on. Frank was very responsive and was great to deal with.

A great time was had by all

Stayed with a large group of multiple families with many children. Overall, a great property. House is roomy. The kitchen and dining area are huge, perfect for large groups. Never ran out of hot water. The deck, hot tub, and beach area were great (although the screened in porch has seen better days). The shower on the pier was very helpful. The closeness of the beach was a plus. Kids played in the water all day. Note that you'll need swim shoes, the beach is quite rocky, but the owner provides plenty of adult swim shoes in the garage (you'll need to bring your own for the younger kiddos). Kayaks and paddle boards were nice as well. The fishing was good, and we even caught 6 crabs. The dishwasher and microwave broke during our stay, but the owner provided a replacement the very next day. Owner was friendly and very responsive, both prior to and during our stay. A Food Lion is 15 minutes away, which was great for our 2-week trip. We also had a wonderful surprise of a fireworks show from the property a few houses over, a long (30 minutes+) one that was one of the best fireworks shows we had ever seen. Not sure who they were or why they did it, but it was a treat on the Saturday before the Fourth. Minor quibbles... the bathroom attached to the master bedroom on the main floor was not updated like the rest of the house. The neighbors on both sides had very loud dogs. None of these should deter anyone from staying here. Book with confidence.
