Secluded Mountain Chalet (#364) - Quiet location | Great views!
Villa #364 is a traditional mountain chalet in a quiet area that overlooks Bryce Mountain. Leaf cover in the summertime may somewhat obscure the view, but wintertime views are wonderful. The great room's huge windows, doors and deck keep you close to nature and gazing outside. Please note that access to this mountainside chalet includes 14 steps down to entry level from the parking area. Located within the Bryce Resort community, this chalet is about 1.2 miles from the Resort's main lodge and ski/bike lifts, and 2.7 miles from the Basye Community Store.
Please review the listing photos carefully. This chalet is clean and well maintained, but rustic. It's an affordable, comfortable retreat for a wide range of guests.
FEATURES & AMENITIES: The open, spacious great room includes a dining room and living room with a wood-burning fireplace. Firewood is provided from late fall through early spring. The kitchen is conveniently located adjacent to the great room and includes basic cookware, tableware, appliances, and a basket-style drip coffee maker (filters provided, but please bring your favorite grind). The main floor also includes a bedroom with king bed, a second bedroom with queen bed, and full bath. The cozy loft has two twin beds, a double bed and full bath. The finished basement includes a second living room, game room with a futon, a bathroom with Jacuzzi tub and sauna, and an unfinished laundry room. Sleeps 10.
The chalet is supplied with bedding (pillows, bedspreads, blankets), fresh bed linens, one towel set per max occupants, one travel-size bar soap per max occupants, two rolls toilet paper per bathroom, two dishwasher tabs, five trash bags, one bath trash bag per bathroom, one paper towel roll, one kitchen dish towel, one travel-size dish soap, and one scrubby pad. We encourage guests with large groups, or who are staying several nights, or who are heavy users of consumable supplies to bring extra supplies or purchase them at the local Basye Community Store.
The flat screen TVs include basic cable, and high-speed 50mbps WiFi internet is sufficient for working, streaming, and limited gaming. There's a DVD player for movie night and a wide selection of DVDs (free to borrow during your stay) at our Check-in Office.
OTHER NOTABLES: Pets are permitted for a $100 fee per pet, per stay (maximum three).

Our family spent Thanksgiving here so that we could have a beautiful view of the mountains and a fireplace roaring while we cooked Thanksgiving dinner, and spent time together. This truly was a home away from home, and delivered everything we had hoped for and more.
We stayed here for several nights in early August and loved the entire home. The check-in process went as described and everything was explained well internally, so we knew how to use lights, appliances, etc. without a lot of fuss.
Our party was small, but we put all three floors of the home to good use. Weekend guests joined us and chose to sleep in the loft. They said the liked it. The bed, bathroom, and so on were comfortable and clean.
Our party stayed on the main floor at night slept well. We are used to ceiling fans in the bedrooms, but despite not having any, this house stayed comfortably cool at night. With temperatures outdoors in the 90s and only in the 70s at night, it was important that the a/c worked and it kept the whole house pleasant. I described it to our guests this way - cool in the basement, comfortable on the main floor, pleasant but a little warmer in the loft.
We did not take advantage of the sauna, but the jetted tub was put to good use. It was comfortable and easy to get in and out without feeling unsafe. The bathmats did help with this.
As with any vacation home built like this, it was a bit older, but the management company has kept up with repairs and updates and, as noted already, it was very comfortable.
Our party did take advantage of the pool at the management office and liked it. The staff there was very helpful with suggestions for the area.
I would love to see this area when the leaves change, so it may be a return trip.
We requested early check-in just in case we got there early. She confirmed early check in for 12pm. We got there after 2:30 and carried down our luggage. The code did not work. I called all the numbers I had and emailed and no answer on calls or voicemails. Not what you want after a 5 hour car ride.
We started driving to find the office and called the general number and she was at a different location and was trying to find our reservation. We finally found the office went in the and took about another 30 minutes to get our code. We went back to the house and unloaded our luggage and finally got in.
The house was dated and not very clean, bathroom toilets are sized for toddlers. They charge a cleaning fee yet… we needed to clean up and get rid of trash, put dishes in dishwasher and run it, take off sheets and gather all the towels (I usually always tidy up and leave it clean anyway) however if we don’t leave the place clean we would be charged an additional cleaning fee?!!
We expected a quiet getaway but you could here entire conversations, arguments, music and noise as if it was 2 feet away.
We heard one of the guest from across the way calling the office complaining that they just drove for nine hours and cannot get into the unit because the code was not working.
This leads me to believe that people have to get a hold of them after all the traveling, they’ve done to get there to be let in which is ridiculous when it can take a while to get a hold of someone.
I'll start with the only real complaint I have - I feel the houses are too close together to get that "alone in the woods" feeling. The neighborhood does make good use of trees, it's hard to see the neighbors...but you will hear them if they're outside talking, or if anyone is driving in or out, or if someone is using power tools.
Otherwise, I enjoyed my stay. The property was clean and amenities were as described. Beds were comfortable. Directions were accurate. Check in/out was quick and easy.
Don't go to Freed's unless you like really dense biscuits.
