Welcome to Birch and Squirrel Lodge, a beautifully appointed mountain retreat in the coveted Eagles Nest Village community. This elegant home combines peaceful mountain living with refined design and easy access to the best of the North Carolina High Country.

Step inside to an inviting space filled with natural light, vaulted ceilings, and a natural stone fireplace that creates a cozy atmosphere for relaxing evenings. The open layout flows smoothly from the living area to a fully equipped kitchen, making it ideal for casual breakfasts or shared dinner gatherings.

Located just moments from Great Camp, where seasonal events and outdoor activities abound, and only a short drive to downtown Banner Elk’s restaurants, shops, and charm, Birch and Squirrel offers both convenience and serenity. You’re also close to year-round adventures including skiing, hiking, scenic drives, and local attractions like Beech Mountain, Sugar Mountain, Grandfather Mountain, Valle Crucis, and Boone.

Outside, enjoy the peaceful surroundings of the gated Eagles Nest community, with scenic trails and ample opportunities for outdoor exploration. Whether you’re seeking a relaxing mountain escape or a base for adventure, this home delivers comfort, style, and a memorable stay.

Epic Chophouse restaurant in Banner Elk offers the top dining experience and best mountain views in the High Country of North Carolina. We literally elevated food and drink in the Blue Ridge when we opened our Eagles Nest location at 4,300 feet elevation in 2025. Perched atop a knoll with panoramic vistas, our gorgeous mountain lodge setting has soaring ceilings, glass walls and striking art. Watch summer sunsets from covered decks complete with firepits. Open year-round, the bar and dining room with a massive stone fireplace are perfect places to gather with friends on winter days.

This elk frames Appalachia in the sense of this small town pride in the mountains. In the background you can see the historic elementary school and rolling mountains and once again the North Carolina pride of the state flag surrounding this elk even though about 100ft to the right there is another flagpole with the same flags raised high and proud. The host was very helpful and responsive to any of my questions. The cabin was in great condition and convenient for any groups looking to hit the slopes at Beech or Sugar. On top of that, my group and I were able to enjoy a delicious birthday dinner at the Epic Chophouse located within the community itself.
