At 2989 feet above sea level, “Hikers Hideaway” is located above the Township of Bat Cave, only a few miles from Chimney Rock Village & Lake Lure and just under 20 miles from Biltmore Estate & Asheville. “Hikers Hideaway” is a real mountain cabin and real mountain roads bring you to it so a high-clearance AWD/4WD is required to access the cabin. Please check on multiple maps for updated road condition. Check out longer stay for potential discount.

Nestled high in the woods of Grant Mountain among the mountain laurel on a 4-acre lot, the only sense of civilization evident in the majestic view is two cabins further down the mountain. “Hikers Hideaway” is a 3-story, 3-bedroom, 2½-bath Custom Heritage Log Home featuring heart pine floors, a cozy stone fireplace with remote-controlled gas logs and vaulted ceilings.
The third story is host to a unique loft-style master bedroom suite with walk-in closet and crow's nest which overlooks the den and picturesque views through triangular apex windows. Hikers Hideaway Stay

We met friends at the loveliest cabin. It was cozy and comfortable and simply beautiful. Located near enough to town but hidden away to enjoy the tranquility of the mountains. Our hosts were attentive and always prompt to respond to our questions. We hope to return in the summer.

Wonderful mountain getaway!

It was the perfect, quiet and relaxing retreat for our young family. The house was very very clean, had everything we needed and more. The drive up the mountain was surprising the first time we did it, haha, but it was totally fine after that. We will definitely be back.

Saw all the local attractions

Great cabin, everyone has their own space. Saw all the local attractions like chimney rock and lake lure and the city of Hendersonville. We made it up the gravel mountain road with regular SUVs but if the road was wet....I am not sure we could have without AWD. Peaceful location and relaxing. Really enjoyed it!

Perfect getaway

I have stayed at other places through VRBO. This one was the best. Plenty of room. Plenty of seating for the amount of people we had. This was a family get together because we weren’t able to get together for the holidays and we live in three different states. We loved everything about the place. Thank you so much for letting us stay at this house. We will always keep this place in mind when we do this get together again in the future. 5 stars for sure! Gina

Incredible Mountain Getaway!

If you like the mountains this is the place for you! The property and location are fantastic. The house is not only beautiful but also well stocked and tucked away up a (fun) winding switchback mountain road. Close to Lake Lure, Chimney Rock, The Biltmore, Hendersonville, some great trails and many other incredible outdoor attractions, our family had an absolute blast exploring all the area had to offer. The property owners were responsive to all of the questions we had and really seemed invested in ensuring our stay was the absolute best it could be. We really appreciated their desire to ensure we were satisfied as guests - a bit of a rarity nowadays. We made some awesome memories on our trip, and if our travels bring us back to the area in the future, this cabin will be the our first choice!

Sweet place to hide away

We truly enjoyed our time here. It’s a lovely home with everything you need for time away from the world. We were a little sad leaving! The fireplace is a plus and heats the house quickly. The kitchen was well stocked with pans and bowls and good knives (important cuz we love to cook). Be prepared for the last few hundred yards as you drive up a very steep hill. (Use a low gear.) You have to pack out your trash, but it’s no big deal at all to drop it off at the campground. The hosts were really attentive and sweet. We would definitely return to this little hideaway.

Very beautiful

Great cabin, loved it. Vey clean. Best part was the condition of the pots and pans, typically all you ever get is horribly scratched ones, also plenty of shared pantry items and ingredients. For us FL people it was cold so the fireplace was a treat, would prefer control of a thermastat, The owners were accommodating by getting us a traditional coffee machine and checking propane for us as well, Too many emails asking for a 5 star review and a touch too many rules in the cabin but I get it. Be prepared for an intense drive on the road to the cabin, not for novice drivers.

A Perfect Mountain Getaway

If you're looking for a peaceful, secluded retreat in the mountains, this cabin is an absolute dream. Tucked away among towering trees, it offers complete privacy and a truly serene escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The sunrises here are breathtaking—watching the sky light up over the mountains while sipping coffee on the deck was the perfect way to start each day. The cabin itself is spacious, beautifully designed, and stocked with everything you could possibly need for a warm, cozy, and relaxing stay. From the well-equipped kitchen to the comfortable furnishings, every detail has been thoughtfully considered. The hosts were wonderful—attentive, responsive, and incredibly helpful. Communication was excellent, and they went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. One important note: you definitely need a 4x4 vehicle to navigate the road leading to the cabin, but once you arrive, it’s absolutely worth it. This hideaway is the perfect place to unwind, reconnect with nature, and simply enjoy the beauty of the mountains. We loved our stay and can’t wait to return!

Peaceful Getaway!

Hikers Hideaway is secluded and peaceful. The inside was very comfortable and cozy with lots of space for the 3 of us. My 20yr old daughter had the whole downstairs to herself. I loved sitting on the swing on the main wrap around porch. The lower level had their own porch as well. I know this may not seem like a big deal but I really appreciated having the light switches and cabinets marked. It made so much easier to find things. The home owners were great. We had a couple of power outages due to a storm. The owner contacted me before I could message them! The power company contacted them about the outage. It was nice to know the owners we there when we needed them.

Perfectly relaxing vacation

Our family of five (three kids age 16-21 and my husband and I) stayed for five days and had a wonderful time! First, the final 5 mins of the drive up the mountain is very steep, but my Mazda3 hatchback did fine (the road was mostly dry). The property itself is very remote - about 30 mins to the nearest grocery store, but the drive up and down was so gorgeous, we did not mind. The cabin itself had everything we needed, including sheets, pillows, kitchen supplies and food like oil, flour, sugar, spices and tons of syrup. The washer dryer was much needed and appreciated, though we did have a little trouble turning it on. The bathrooms came with hair dryers which was also very appreciated. The hosts deserve an A+++ for responsiveness and friendliness. We had a storm on our first day and they checked in on us like they actually cared! I didn’t expect that. What a pleasant surprise. We played games, watched movies, and relaxed. It was a wonderful stay.

Absolutely lovely stay!

We enjoyed our stay at Hiker's Hideaway so much! It was impeccably clean and well appointed, having everything we would need for our week away from home. The property was exactly as advertised, very private and secluded, while also being conveniently situated between Asheville, Hendersonville, and Chimney Rock/Lake Lure. We were pleasantly suprised by the ease with which we could navigate to all of the area sites and the mutitude of hikes and outdoor adventures within just minutes. We completed the Bearwallow Mountain trail and the Wildcat Rocks trail to Bearwallow Falls, both within minutes of the cabin. The road up to the cabin is definitely steep and would be difficult with a lower or 2WD vehicle, but is easily navigable once you've done it once or twice. For the beer lovers, we highly recommend Dry Falls Brewery in Hendersonville and Burial Brewing in Asheville, but there are so many to choose from. Turgua Brewing was nearby the cabin and perfect for a quiet, low key evening out. We also recommend the new Grey Hawk Beer Garden toward Lake Lure. Overall, we couldn't have been happier with our stay and will definitely come back on our next trip to WNC.

Great house

Everything was accurate to the listing. The beds were comfortable, the house was clean, the furniture was nice. One thing I'd recommend people looking to come here are aware of, is that the house is not easily accessible by sedans or small cars. The road up the mountain to the house is extremely steep, and two of the smaller sedans we brought had a very rough time up, to the point where we had to have some people get out of the car to make it up. The location was very nice. We were close to Asheville and Lake Lure, both of which were fun locations that had a lot of stuff to do. And the house was very high up in a mountain, which had great views. The hosts were also very responsive, and any time we had an issue they were able to respond quickly. I thought the dinner plates were very enjoyable. My favorites were the white square ones, that felt like they were always just the right size for the food I was eating, and they were easy to clean off. The fact that they were a square a not a circle was novel, and made them enjoyable to eat off of. Overall the house was a great time, at a good location, with good amenities.
