As well as a thriving arts scene and strong community spirit, this small town offers access to beautiful Lake Murray State Park and the Arbuckle Mountains.

Stay in Ardmore to get a sense of Oklahoma’s strong character and enjoy a wide range of outdoor pursuits in the surrounding countryside. Between exploring the gorgeous landscape of the lakes, creeks and mountains, spend quiet days touring the town’s eclectic museums and appreciating the sense of community here.

Get familiar with Ardmore and South Oklahoma by visiting the Greater Southwest Historical Museum. This fascinating museum of local history documents the changing face of the region. See exhibits on early Native American settlements as well as more recent agricultural artifacts.

A more unconventional museum is the Eliza Cruce Doll Museum. View over 300 dolls in this remarkable collection, which includes elaborate and artistic dolls as well as exceptionally creepy examples.

The area’s natural beauty is part of its most appealing charm. Drive a few minutes southeast and hit the fringe of Lake Murray State Park. This large protected green space is an ideal place to go hiking, horseback riding, fishing, sailing, swimming and even diving. Take advantage of the golf course or stay overnight in the tranquil resort within the park. If you prefer to keep things simple, you can camp here too.

Head even farther southeast and discover incredible Lake Texoma, straddling the border with Texas. This enormous body of water draws many nature lovers to its banks each year. Across about 89,000 acres (360 square kilometers) it offers a huge array of outdoor activities. It is also known for its astounding beauty, so make sure you bring a camera.

The countryside north of Ardmore is also a treasure trove of natural delights. Hike the peaks of the Arbuckle Mountains, dive into natural swimming holes at Turner Falls Park and enjoy nature as you relax on the banks of Lake of the Arbuckles at Chickasaw National Recreation Area.

Drive to Ardmore from Oklahoma City in about 90 minutes. Come in summer to enjoy the most beautiful weather during your stay.
