YouTube on the TV is very slow because of the low Internet quality, not all room amenities were Available, tissues were not available in the bedroom, only one coffee cup in the room, pillows and bed were of very low quality and not comfortable at all

In many ways, the hotel was excellent as a place to stay, but as a five-star hotel, it was quite ordinary. The breakfast for example was a very nice spread but nothing special. The dinner buffet was similarly uninspiring. The actual room was very nice and we had a superb view of the gulf, but there was only one pair of slippers (not that we used any, but for a double occupancy room, there should be two pairs already there).

Stay in Abu Dhabi

The check-in process was very slow, after a 28 hour flight to Abu Dhabi, that the reception could not find my reservation, having trouble tracking down Hotels.com ref number etc. The hotel staff were very nice and upgraded my stay which was a good gesture. The local calls were not allowed from the room, and you cannot even charge them to your room, so you have to physically go to the reception, pay upfront and make the call from your room, which is inconvenient. Also, you cannot charge restaurant costs to your room, so have to pay every time after the meal. Nowadays, these expenses are allowed to be charged to the room, which makes the stay more convenient and you pay them off all when you check out. I guess this approach has not been adopted by this hotel yet.

The hotel was ok. When we arrived at 2am we were checked in and taken to a room that someone was already in! We then had to wait to be moved and were given a non smoking room when we had asked for, and had confirmed, a smoking room. We were promised that we could change rooms at 9am the next day....but when we went to do this we were told there were none available. We eventually moved rooms at 10.30am, but only after complaining. After this, whenever we needed anything we had to phone 3 or 4 times before anything was done. One day our room wasnt cleaned eventhough we saw staff on our way out of the hotel and they said it would be done as we had no clean towels. Three phonecalls later to reception and we finally got some towels. The same with toilet rolls. It took 4 phonecalls for this. The valets, porters and breakfast staff were all lovely and helpful, but the rest of the service in the hotel was very poor.

Note hotel is described as: 'Luxury' & rated as 5 Stars. I don't understand how recently this property was reviewed to give it a 5 star rating, but it is never 5 Stars with the rooms in their current state of decor & condition. I recommend your reviewer go & stay at e.g. The Jumeirah Saadiyat Island - give that a 5 Star review, and work backwards from there. On that scale the Hotel Corniche would be at very best a low 3 Star property. Credit goes to the reception staff, concierge, barman & omelette chef all friendly, hard working and were doing their best with what they had to work with. The foyer was immaculately clean as was the lift lobby area. However, it all falls down when you enter the room corridors where the carpets were clearly old & tired, and the room itself which was dated and clearly in need of renovation. Carpets were old, smelt musty, with multiple large stains. The wardrobe had 3 randomly unmatched hangers. The bathroom had a shaving mirror that cleaners had had finely balanced in position that dropped as soon as you touched it (this was reported & tightened) and a soap tray that was partly detached from the wall (not repaired when reported). The bottom of the bathroom doorframe had rotted away due to water exposure; the shower curtain didn't look fresh & overdue replacement; bathroom mirror had a thick black mould ring around the circumference. Room surfaces & switches smeared. Also - Breakfast bowls & spoons missing most days & poor table management.

Fabulous 5 stars hotel in Corniche

It was an overnight transit, and I didn’t even get to sleep due to the early departure. Otherwise, I would have loved to stay in the fabulous room.

This is, without a doubt one of the finest hotel stays I have ever had the pleasure of enjoying. Every aspect of this stay was brilliant. Rhea in reception was brilliant. I stayed in room 1001, and it was fabulous. I am so pleased, I have booked again for tomorrow!
