The shimmering, jewel hued waters of the aptly named Emerald Bay was a sight for sore eyes. By far the best view in Lake Tahoe! My only regret was not packing my swimsuit.. or a decent pair of walking shoes to hike down to Vikingsholm. [August '14]
Hike the Eagle Lake trail! If hiking in winter, I recommend Goretex boots, water resistant pants, trekking poles, snacks and optimism. The views are incredible and completely worth "power sliding" through the snow ;) Snow shoes would have been a great addition too.

While driving through the Sierra Nevada foothills to Placerville, Lynn and I decided to take local roads and noticed this lake. The water was completely flat and provided a clear reflection. Sometimes it is nice to find unexpected little gems in your local area. #Golden

Every summer for the past 7 years close to our Anniversary, Lynn and I stay an extended weekend in the Placerville, California area located in the Sierra foothills. This year we stayed in the nearby Apple Hill. Apple Hill is renowned for its orchards, wineries, and farms. Although each farm has something different to offer, we enjoy the apple donuts and pies. Apple wines and beer are also available for tasting. This photo is on the farm we stayed this weekend. The farm grows Christmas Trees and has a wedding venue at this pond.
