We loved the Platzl hotel! This will be our go-to hotel in Munich. The location was wonderful - just a block from Marienplatz, Hofbrau house and walking distance from everything in Old Town. We were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary, and they kindly upgraded our room and even gave us an extra bottle of wine and cakes and wrote us a nice card. The amenities were great - wonderful bathroom and shower. When we needed extra water it was always available in the lobby if you asked for it, or in the spa. We will definitely be back!

We arrived late at night only to find out that the hot water boiler was broken and the hotel had no hot water all three nights we stayed there. They made it up by providing free buffet breakfast and they also offered a 25% discount on our stay, but to be honest we haven’t yet seen the refund

The staff was the best I've seen in decades of first class travel.
The restaurant (9th floor) was a hot local destination, not just a filler.
The gym was well equipped ...although the European brands of fitness were strange to me ..and maybe not as functional as in the USA
Central location allowed for walks to major Munich museums, sites (good and bad), and parks (English Gardens).
