Southern Iceland Romantic Vacations

Well it’s a Courtyard Marriott so there is nothing special about this (or most Courtyard Marriotts for that matter). That said, it is conveniently located near the KEF airport. But It’s just a very standard hotel, lackluster decor, comfortable, clean but sterile, flat, rather uninspiring rooms etc. Nothing really noteworthy and not nearly worth the extremely high price they charge you to stay here. The breakfast is not great….hauled in from somewhere I guess…canned baked beans, powdered eggs, boiled medley of peas and carrots and wilted green beans, some ham and cheese slices and a few salad fixings, yogurt and some fruit. Very very mediocre and very standard. Nothing original, nothing outstanding. It does have a courtesy shuttle from like 0500-0800 but it is only one way from the hotel to the airport, not from airport to hotel AND you have to be a Marriott Bonvoy member to be able to use the shuttle. Never seen anything like that anywhere I’ve traveled to in the world. So that makes very little sense to me and really is quite ridiculous. Big kudos to reception staff member Max. He was courteous and just great!! Gave me an early check in so that was nice. In sum, it’s a conveniently located airport hotel.

During my recent stay at the Reykjavik Residence Hotel, I was blown away by the exceptional service from their lovely staff, who truly made us feel right at home. Even though we arrived quite early, they were kind enough to get us checked in the moment our room was ready, completely free of charge. It was such a relief to rest up a bit before heading out to explore the city! The team also gave us some fantastic recommendations for local activities, and their breakfast was wonderfully simple, fresh, and nutritious. If you're planning your Iceland adventure, I highly recommend this hotel!
