I love L'Ermitage. Stayed first in 1979. It was a home from home. We are back in October and I want to come down from Santa Barbara regularly in the future.
My singular and ONLY observation is that the phone in the room is grotty. Dirty and old. The one single thing g that did not fit. You asked so I am truthfully saying I wouldn't want to touch it-upgrades maybe might be a consideration.
I wrote about the best hotels in the entire world for 20 years for Condé Nast in London and rate your place right up there!!

I was disappointed with our room. I specifically asked in advance for a room away from the elevator because I was traveling with my elderly mother and children. Unfortunately, we were given a room right next to the elevator, with the elevator shaft directly behind the wall. There was constant loud banging and noise, especially at night, which made it difficult to sleep. I was disappointed that my request was ignored.
