Werkendam Cheap Vacations

The bedroom was great , lovely decor & a very comfortable bed BUT the bathroom was clearly in need of a major refurbishment - it was extremely dated and in poor condition - the shower attachment was in the bath but the tiled side of the bath was so high that I could not get in to have a shower. There were 2 sinks but one only had a dribble of water coming out. The finish on the tiling around the sinks and the boarding behind the toilet seat were clearly suffering from wear and tear. I mentioned this to a receptionist at the end of our 2 night stay who apologised & said the rooms in the hotel are being refurbished working down from the top floors - we were on floor 1. I think the stark contrast between the bedroom & the bathroom should have been mentioned at the start of our stay &, possibly, the hotel should slightly reduce the rates of such rooms that are not yet refurbished. Also, only one of the two lifts were working so there was a lot of time spent waiting for the lift - sometimes because cleaning staff were using it. I mentioned this at reception & the young man said it had been out of order for some time & they were having difficulty getting it fixed. Other than these issues, staff were friendly, the breakfast was excellent & we also enjoyed an excellent evening meal in the restaurant.

Beautiful hotel

The location was good, but overall we were disappointed with our stay. We were initially told babysitting services were available, but after arrival we were told otherwise and only after repeated complaints was one babysitter arranged. Housekeeping was below expectations, with towels and linens not being changed properly and the room not cleaned well. Customer service did not meet the standards of a 4-star hotel, and our complaints were not adequately addressed.

The location was perfect for visiting Amsterdam. The staff was very helpful and did whatever they could to make our stay better. They gave suggestions on places to eat nearby.

Good location within a short walk of train station and tram stops. Staff were friendly and very helpful (improvising a vase for our mother's day flowers). Rooms were clean and well-equipped, but there were some style-over-substance design choices (e.g., glass cylinder shower that clogged and overflowed, tiny wash basin). Not many options for food - particularly dinner - without a bit of a walk, mitigated by easy access to trams.

Was a nice stay taxes were high though

This place needs a terrible upgrade and remodel. Why is it considered a 5 star property? I know every country has different standards, but if this is a 5 star property, what's the highest star a property can receive. It's so shabby. Dirty carpets. Maze-like hallways. Think the movie "The Shining". I wouldn't stay here again.

Fantastic hotel. Clean and comfortable. Super friendly and helpful staff. Great breakfast. Appreciated the laundry service Convenient to central Amsterdam. Highly recommend.

You don't even deserve one star. A hotel that profits from others' misfortune to enrich itself—it's shameful...
