Toelzer Land All inclusive Vacations

Air conditioning was horrible. There had been a heat spell, but not in the last 2 days, and Wed evening when I checked in it had been raining and cool all day. I was given a room on the top floor (that was the maximum distance from the elevator). It was hot in the room. I blasted the A/C for 3 hours without effect. Not surprising, because no cool air came from the vent. I tried to sleep but finally called the front desk to complain. Night staff switched me to a room across from the elevator that was marginally better, but not by much. It was very uncomfortable, and I got a terrible night's sleep. I saw a small cockroach, there was a small speck of feces on the toilet bowl missed by the cleaning staff, and there was a half drunk water bottle in the refrigerator, both from a previous guest. My room was still overly warm in the morning, but when I went down to check out, the lobby was very nice and cool. I don't know if only the top floor was impacted by no A/C, but the situation was completely unacceptable and I would never stay here again. It is very rare for me to write a negative review, but I received an email solicitation from Hotel Atomis to rate them, and this bad experience is still fresh in my mind, so there it is.

PROS You can tell this is a hotel mainly oriented towards business clients the moment you step in. There’s an old-fashioned bar, meeting rooms, and middle-aged businessmen hanging out in the lobby, but this isn’t necessarily a bad thing for regular visitors as there were no kids or strange people around, which is always good. The staff were excellent, kind and professional, no issues there. We stayed in a twin room and it was a pretty spacious room with two separate beds, not a double bed with a split mattress thankfully. The bathroom is on the other side of the wall from the beds, which is nice for a little more privacy. In the room there were clean surfaces, a bench, a comfy chair, working AC, a hair dryer, and a kettle with an assortment of coffees/teas. CONS We were a bit upset with there being no mini-fridge in the room as we couldn’t keep any chilled drinks or dairy products. The room fairies only visit your room every 3 days, meaning no fresh towels every day like most hotels, and with no clothes drying rack in the room, the AC could only manage to pull so much water out of the towels, luckily we brought our own. I was a bit disappointed that I asked to have the coffee sticks refilled at the reception twice and because they didn’t have them on hand I had to wait for housekeeping to deliver it, which never ended up happening. OVERALL RATING 8.5/10
