The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. The buffet was incredible. Our room was amazing and it really felt like we were in a jungle with a tree in the bathroom. Everyone genuinely wanted us to feel welcomed.

What a beautiful place with kind, caring staff! I was sick during most of my stay, and they were quite understanding, helpful, and attentive! My bed at Villa Thamburu was the most comfortable out of any place I've stayed during my nine years of traveling abroad. It truly made being sick ok because of the warmth and peaceful environment of my room.

Aara Wild near Sigiriya was the highlight of our whole Sri Lanka trip. From arrival, the warmth of the welcome set the tone – every member of staff, from housekeeping to guides to the kitchen team, was genuinely, unfailingly lovely. It’s rare to feel so looked after and so at ease at once. The activities were fantastic and varied: a sunset walk with incredible views, a relaxed afternoon tea, a chef’s dinner served poolside under the stars, and a hands-on cooking class. Each felt personal rather than a standard “resort activity.” We travelled with our two young children, and the way the team engaged with them was special – patient, warm and encouraging, and our kids left having formed real bonds with staff. Our 5 year old was in tears when we had to leave, and honestly I was close!! The wildlife was extraordinary right on the doorstep – elephants, lizards, eagles, even a water snake, all without going far. The biodiversity made every walk feel like a small safari. The natural pool was a wonderful centrepiece, and having a private pool at our room too meant we always had the choice of a sociable swim or quiet family time. And the food was genuinely fabulous throughout. Chef was brilliant and we feel ready to have a go at home with all his top tips! If I had to sum it up: Aara Wild isn’t just a beautiful place, it’s full of beautiful people. We’d go back in a heartbeat. Please book Aara!
