Hoto Island Mountain Vacations

Our stay here was for two night. It went pretty well. The staff is amazing and speak English really well. They are very helpful and courteous. This seemed to be a super touristy area. Alot of Korean tourists. Touristy is not what we look for our stay, so didn’t realize this until we got there. We didn’t book a hot spring in beppu because this hotel offered bath on thier 14th floor. The amenities pick up is available from the bath upstairs. We decided to go there to check out the amenities and the bath…it was chaos there. I have been a lot of ryokans and onsens around Japan..and this was full of Korean tourists observing non of the public bath manners, they had taken almost all the amenities, and were being loud, the toilet rooms were open and smelled like someone pooped there. After seeing that we skipped the baths. We had a car so everything was reachable from here and they had super affordable car parking garage available right in the back of the hotel. You just take your ticket and they validate it for you at the hotel. They have relaxation services available for which you have to go the inn next door…we ended up getting that and it was honestly amazing. Overall really nice hotel.

We booked a tower room on 8th Floor with private hot spring in the room. The room size is like an apartment that has a living, western bedroom, kitchenette, tatami, bathroom and ocean view balcony. The bath area also has shower and open air hot spring tub that Springs from natural source. Tub is large enough for 4 persons and it offers a view of the ocean bay. Staff service are excellent courteous and very helpful and can speak English as well. Room is meticulously clean, spotless, thoughfully and artfully designed. We selected breakfast and kaiseki dinner. Breakfast are delicious buffet style with western and Japanese dishes. Kaiseki meals are such an experience. The presentation of each dish is so pretty. We found sashimi fish dish on certain selections like sea bream, horse mackerel fish very tough and chewy although we are sashimi lovers and quite familiar in this end. We wish there were more varieties of other seafood like crab or scallops or uni in the sashimi. The wagyu beef in the Shabu shabu and sukiyaki are excellent grade. It melts in your mouth. With a room in the tower booking, we were offerd lounge club access with beer wine beverages and appetizers in the afternoon and are night. Overall, the experience surpasses what we expected. It was a pleasant stay and we will surely come back.

The stay was great. Our only complaint was that the AC unit in our room broke the 2nd night which made it hard to sleep.

Room was fantastic. We had ocean views and an indoor onsen. Friendly staff. Breakfast was good. Would absolutely stay again

Clean and quiet and spacious

The hot spring experience were great but most of the equipment such as shower used in there are not in perfect condition. Some are out of order. The policy about cleaning is a little bit troublesome since my father have an allergy from dust. *The policy about cleaning is eco-cleaning type (clear the bin everyday but clean the beds and floors every 3 days)
