Smallest hotel room ever. But all else was good

I wanted a hotel close to the train station because I was arriving from Salzburg in the evening. I don’t love neighborhoods by train stations, including this one. But! This hotel is beautiful (rooms are a little small) but the interiors are gorgeous. The room was very comfortable, and have small fridges, coffee and kettle (no robe/slippers) amenities like shampoo and bedding were top notch. I had one of the best coffee extra-grandes of my life. What sets this hotel apart is the front desk staff. Phenomenal from check in to check out. Thanks so much!!

It is perfect in all aspexts

We enjoyed our stay here. I traveled with my husband and our two teenage boys so having the door between our room and theirs was nice - the appreciated me not nagging them to go to sleep. The two rooms each had a bathroom which was helpful for getting everyone ready in the morning. The room was quiet. Breakfast was good. There was tea, coffee, juices and water. To eat there were different pastries, breads, jams and honey, yogurt, fruit, cereals, deli meats and cheeses, and also hot foods - scrambled eggs everyday and the other options changed - sausages, bacon etc. The hotel was near to the Isator metro station (2 min walk) and also close to Marienplatz. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go. The room had AC, the reception staff were very welcoming and helpful, I would stay here again.

An impressive historic hotel that is close to Marienplatz and city sights. Our room was spacious, the staff provided great service and the breakfast was superb. We’ll definitely stay here again next time we are in Munich.

The AC was great to have in July. A very beautiful hotel with great staff. Our room was next to the Hoffbrau House and was a little noisy at night and breakfast was expensive, but the location was perfect!

Lovely friendly clean hotel

I have been coming to this hotel every year (apart from Covid years) since 2009. It is a perfectly good 3 star hotel. It would probably rate a 4 star if it had air con. But the ceiling fans do a good job keeping the rooms cool. I am 85 years old with mobility problems. The location is ideal for me - the main railway station is opposite and there is a tram stop directly outside the hotel. It's only 4 tram stops - a ten minute journey - to Marienplatz in the heart of the city. It's an easy walking distance for most people. The area can be very noisy with a busy road and a backpacker hostel nearby where youngsters like to congregate after midnight. So guests susceptible to noise should book an inside courtyard room during hot weather when they might need to open a window. The front rooms are quiet when the windows are closed. The cheapest single rooms are basic but adequate. Anyone needing a walk-in-shower should mention it when booking. The worst thing about this hotel is the breakfast. The food is ok - the usual fare. But they don't serve black coffee! German coffee is usually good. This stuff comes from a machine and the milk is premixed. I tried the tea. A good choice of teabags but no boiling water - just warm water. A disgusting brew. Warm water is ok for coffee but we British expect our tea to be hot. I will certainly use this hotel again - but I will avoid the breakfast. There's plenty of other cafes nearby where you can get a decent cup of black coffee.
