I’m disappointed with my recent stay at the Courtyard Downtown Wilmington NC especially after initially having such a great impression on my stayed at Courtyard in Tampas on May 31, 2025. I reserved two rooms through a third-party site (Expedia) for a party of eight—two adults and two children per room. The rooms themselves were fine, but the experience was overshadowed by the hotel's handling of breakfast, which was supposed to be included in our reservation.
Despite my reservation clearly stating that breakfast was included for all guests, I was told at the hotel that they could only provide two breakfast coupons per room—as if they were doing me a favor. I explained that we had paid for breakfast for eight guests, not just four. I contacted Expedia, who spoke directly with the hotel and confirmed that breakfast was indeed included for everyone in our party. Still, the hotel refused to honor this.
If your hotel chooses to partner with Expedia or any third-party booking platform, then you should honor the terms guests book under. Otherwise, don’t allow your rooms to be listed. It’s unfair to penalize customers for booking through a platform you work with.
I expect honesty and transparency when booking a hotel. Unfortunately, that was not the case here. I will not be returning, and I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone who values fair treatment and clear communication
