New owner was very nice at check in offering snacks, coffee and a small gift bag with chips and chocolates. Room was small and dated but updated floor and bathroom along with nice bedding, very comfortable nights sleep!

An Unexpected Gem!

This was an unexpectedly exellent stay. The rooms were very spacious, very clean. The owner was very pleasant and helpful. The beds were also quite comfortable! Having stayed at two other properties during our visit to the area, I can say that the River Valley Inn outshined the others. We should have booked there for more nights.

Room was super clean and was perfect for a place to sleep that was quiet. However, the scent in the room was very overbearing and I don’t think the door locks from the inside, which didn’t feel safe.

Great little place to stay

Check in was nice and easy, the lady running the front desk was very friendly and helpful. The hotel itself looks like an older hotel that was recently renovated. Nice beds, nice bathroom, a mini fridge and microwave in the room. No complaints, I was pleasantly surprised with everything. 5 stars.

The manager was extremely kind and helpful. The room was freshly painted, had nice faux wood blinds, wooden floor, a new bathroom and a comfortable bed. The desk and rest of furniture were old and worn out; they are probably remodeling little by little? Free parking in front of the room, open wifi.

Stayed for one night (there for Family weekend at UMass Amherst). The owner (Christopher) called ahead of time to ask about our arrival time and to see what temperature we would want the room set up at. He welcomed us upon arrival. Quick and easy check-in. The room was very clean. Bed (we had a king size) was comfortable. AC/heating unit worked very well. I would definitely consider staying here again if we can’t find a closer to Amherst alternative.

Convenient, cozy, & clean

We were greeted by the friendly owner/host to welcome us to a quiet, comfortable, convenient stay near a concert at Treehouse Brewing. It was just the touch of ease and hospitality we needed to make our evening worry free. The giant, comfy, king bed provided the restful night's sleep we needed.We'd definitely stay here again! Plenty of parking and reasonably close to restaurants and other facilities. The room is small and there were no closets, but it was comfortable. There were no cups or coffee in the room, but they were available in the office. The owner was nice.

The new owners of this property have done wonders. It’s clean, comfortable and affordable. It’s an easy ride from Northampton and many restaurants there. The owners were helpful and friendly and have big plans. I look forward to going back and seeing what other improvements they make

The staff was very nice and helpful. The room was clean, although maybe needed a little touching up. For example, there were blinds but no curtains on the windows. Some people don't do as well with sun streaming in in the morning. The reason we don't rate the River Valley a 5 is that it's not quite worth the cost. At a lower price, it would have been fine.

Great night in Hatfield

I was very surprised upon arrival how kept the place was. The room had all the heat needed. The most shocking was how hot the water was. I paid for most expensive hotels, and the water was hot like this place. It was pleasant to meet the manager, who went out his way, to make sure i could get a early check-in, during the upcoming snow storm. Thanks for the stay.

Staff was very helpful and attentive. However, the room key/door knob was difficult to use (not sure if just old technology or if it was due to the cold weather). Overall, just a couple minor inconveniences (thin walls, door access) but the room itself and comfortability level was great. They also do have coffee and tea in the lobby for guests so that was nice.
