Overall good house for multiple families. Kitchen was well-stocked, ample and comfortable rooms, good bathrooms. The spiral staircase is a challenge for small children - we covered the outside with a mesh to make it safer. The gated porch was good for children. We were unable to use the kayaks due to leaks/needing cleaning.

Fall Retreat

The house was amazing. So many places to sit back and relax and hang out with the family. We enjoyed a walk in the preserve and walks along the beach. We can’t wait to come back.

Amazing stay!

Our entire group had such a great time at this home. The backyard and deck areas felt like an oasis and we loved all the amenities the property offered. Cannot wait to revisit!

Shady Arbor vacation

Wonderful stay!

Lovely house. Well equipped with everything we needed. Location to both beach and nature preserve was ideal. Jim and Patti responded quickly to questions and were very helpful. Highly recommend this property.

Cape May Weekend

We had an amazing time staying at this beautiful house! Our kids loved playing in the backyard oasis. You can tell the owners are very mindful of families traveling with small children as the house was packed with play costumes on toys. We had a great time!

Much needed family time

The house was the perfect setting for a family vacation. It was spacious and gave opportunity to either gather (which we did the whole time!) Or there are plenty of areas inside and out that you can find your private space. The beach chairs and umbrellas were basically new and in great shape (not rusty) and there were plenty of beach toys for our grand daughter to play with.

An Amazing Getaway for a Group!

I recently stayed at Shady Arbor with a group of friends (and two dogs), and we had a spectacular time! The place itself is amazing, and ideal for a group of adults and/or families. There is so much space to spread out and relax between meals and trips to the beach. Walkable to a small, private bay beach AND a quick drive to Cape May, it's ideal for a fun time at the shore. Patti and Jim are excellent hosts, as well; check-in and check-out were simple, and were incredibly communicative throughout our stay. I can't say enough nice things about Shady Arbor! Would 100% stay again.

Beautiful property for a family vacation

This property was just what we needed for a 3 generation vacation. The house is so roomy and had everything we needed for a stay that included 5 kids from 1-9 years , 4 adults and 2 seniors. The walk to the beach was easy for everyone. The location was very convenient for all of the local spots we traveled to. The owners really thought of everything a family would need to have a comfortable stay. It made packing much easier knowing that so many things were already at the house, especially all of the beach gear.

Charming home for a vacation near Cape May!

We found this to be a unique home close to beach and Cape May attractions (and less than half hour to Ocean City). Our party of 5 adults and 2 children had plenty of room both inside and out. It was well supplied with anything we needed … from soap to kitchen ware to books and games. Personally, as a handicapped individual, I did find the steps challenging but I was able to manage.

Great Stay Near Cape May

We had a wonder stay at this property. It was spacious, well furnished and stocked, and comfortable. The owners were very responsive to our questions. We loved the short walk to the bay beach to play in the sand, run with our dog, and watch the sunset. The bay beach isn't good for swimming though with all the horseshoe crabs, but the Cape May beach is a short drive away. The owners provided beach tags and everything we needed to enjoy the beach! Highly recommend this property.

A great late summer getaway

Spent 5 days with my family and our dog. The house was great and shady (a plus). There was enough space for everyone to spread out (when needed). The wrap around porch , with gates was perfect for my dog to walk around and we didn't have to worry about her getting loose. The Gazebo in the back was a nice escape at night to enjoy the outside and not deal with any mosquito's. The house provided enough activities to keep everyone busy including bikes, to ride through the preserve, kayaks and paddle boards to take to the bay, a short walk from the home. Overall we were very pleased with the house and would highly recommend.

Amazing Property

My family came in for a wedding and stayed here. It fit all of our needs. All of us agreed that we would stay at the property again. Very happy! Only thing is, no closets on the first floor so we had no place to hang my parents dress clothes but you can always work that out. Beautiful home, beautiful property, great communication.

There were high expectations to get there and relax. Unfortunately, I spent the first night cleaning due to ants, toilets were dirty, dirt on the floors and chairs, hair, insect and food crumbs. The next morning we left early because the cleaners had to come back and redo what they "had done" It was more stress than relax. I was able to request our checkout to be moved to 12 which is a much better time than trying to rush out at 10. There are no closets to hang cloths, the twin beds and the sleeper sofas downstairs are attached to the main floor bedroom and there is no privacy in that room..The loft is a cute space but would need a railing added as a safety measure to keep you from accidentally falling down through the hole. The lights and fountain were off when we tried to relax after 3 hrs of cleaning. Those were turned on, on Saturday. I was told that I could spray or put Ant gel down to treat the ants. No type of refund or discount was offered. The only pictures that I have are of the dirt and ants. The house is cute, good location, needs to be checked after the cleaners say theyve done their job especially for the price. I did gave contact sith Patti and customer service. I hope the ne t people that stayed had the house clean as I vacuumed and wiped down everything before we left.

Plenty of room for all

Such a unique property/home. The biggest surprise for me was the outdoor shower! Perfect after a day at the beach. Some of us walked the bay beach morning and night. Mosquitoes were around, but oh, well. It's summer. All ammenities were as described. We experienced a malfunction with the Pack 'n Play. After a phone call to Jim, we had a replacement that day. Should we visit Cape May in the future, we will definitely reserve another stay.

Summer Vacation 2022

We absolutely loved this property! We had 3 generations of family that came together for our family reunion/vacation and this house was amazing! There was ample room for everyone in our party (4 adults, 4 kids and our dog)! Location was ideal and was an easy walk to the beach! Having come to the Jersey Shore for years with my family in the past, this was a nice change of pace being on the bay side of the beach! Beach was beautiful and the location was ideally located. Not too far from Cape May and Wildwood! I would highly recommend this house, and would absolutely stay again!! Thank you Jim and Patti for opening your house up to us...we hope to rent from you again next summer!!

The house was lovely, perfect for our week.

We had such a lovey time at the house. There was plenty of room for everyone and the items provided were greatly appreciated. We spent alot of time biking on the trails at the preserve. The kids had so much fun kayaking and paddle boarding. The beach was so nice. And my granddaughters loved sleeping in the "tree house"! We enjoyed the fire pit and had s'mores several nights. One comment, I thought the website read towels provided, but when we got there there were no towels. Had to scramble so everyone had bath towels. Thanks again!

"Some Yes, Some No"

This is a quirky property in a quiet neighborhood. The bedrooms were not what we expected. The small bedroom on the main floor can only be accessed from inside the primary bedroom which would be great for a couple with small children but wasn't good for our all adult group. Also, the loft is better suited for children. The property was very appealing to some of our group because of the bicycles/toys and the fire pit. The nearby beach was better than we expected.

Comfortable and Highly recommended

it can be very tough finding a home to accommodate a family of 12 but this home was spacious and comfortable. The family really enjoyed themselves for their vacation week, they loved the house and thought that the homeowners went above and beyond to make sure the house was stocked with not only necessities but extras as well. Plenty of games and electronics for all age groups. It had plenty of room so they were not on top of each other. The exterior was a plus with the hammock, gazebo, wrap around decks and of course the fish ponds. An outside shower is an excellent idea as we actually joked that the only thing it was missing was an outside shower! Will definitely use this property again.
