Varingskollen Alpine Center

Website touts it is a boutique hotel. It is not. The rooms were clean, but had the smallest shower I can imagine. Bed is a memory foam mattress, and has the smallest flatest pillow. Linens were clean. Based on the rooms we had its a 2 star hotel. Very loud as we were off the ally. Very warm rooms. Metro was easy to use to the city centre. And had good shops around.

The facility was extremely clean, modern, and spacious. It felt more like a Nordic apartment than a hotel. And for a price when we stayed, that is one heck of a deal. It came with great amenities like a kitchen and a washer + dryer combo. It is also extremely easy to get to from Oslo S. Use the elevator on the south side between tracks 3 and 4 (where you will alight from the airport train), turn left on the bridge, use the elevator there, then walk down Toyenbekken and turn right on Gronlandsleiret. Took us 8 minutes and was super easy. The neighbourhood is sketchy at night, but we didn't feel too uneasy at 11 pm. But if you are travelling alone, I would suggest sticking to the main street only at night (Gronlandsleiret). During the day, it feels very safe.
